Unfortunately, the Taekwondo dub dedded to leave in January this year to concentrate on thelr base In Spennymoor. 11 has left us wilh a gap in our timetable and we are looking ft)r activitles to fill the spaces on Monday and Friday arKI Saturday morning. We have been able to continue the youth group on Tuesdays with the akl of a grant from the Balllnger Trusl. We are currentty loong for contlnuatlon fundSng to cary on for at leasl a further year. Local CIC Building Self Belief also run a wami space for young people and their families from November to March that also includes assistance wllh Job search for those se8king work. The Scouts, Cubs and Beavers stlll us8 the centre on Thursday evenings and the dog tralnlng group contlnue lo meet on Wednesdays. We hosted Fun and Food actlvltl88 unlll Chrlstmas but are no longer able lo so because the fundlng from the Department for Education Is now IlmSted to those chlldren on free 6chool meals. Needless to say no one mlss86 the fom fllllng. The Food 88nk and a drop In coffee momlry fills the centre on Thursdays p8 the Mother and Tots story sesslons. Unfortunately Ihe CAB no longer attermls dua to fundSng cuts and those needlng advlce In Peon have to travel to Crook though we could hosl a zoom meeting If needed other agencles do provlde drop Sn advlce sesslons durlng these limes as well. The monthly lunch club 18 golng well and the Bread and Butter Thlng sesslons contlnve lo be busy. As aayS we need more volunteers 80 Marfon and Flona donl always have to work 80 hard. The outslde ¢xeC1 play area Is now complete and much appreclated. We have also tldled up the fronl and sldes arKI moved the rear seat to a safer plac8. They are open to all and we are kjoking at Ihe accessibility of the Centre to ensure we provide for all whatever their abilities. All our charilable activities are undertaken to further our charitable purposes for Ihe public benefit. The trustees have had regard lo the Charity Commission's guKJance on public benefit throughout the year when decldlng on the activitles of the charity. We start new activitles when we have funding available and are hoping to do further work wtth Well Being for Lrfe.

At current activity velS this is equal to approximately £18.000. Unrestricted reserves al 31st March 2024 were £22,529. Struthire Governance and Mana ent Governing Document The Tow Law Community Association is a charitable company limited by guarantee. It vrfas incorporated as a company on 11th May 2007 with company number 06244260 arKI regISted as a Charity on 31st January 2008 with charity number 1122539. 11 is govemed by its Memorandum and Artlcles of ASS0dat dated 11 May 2007 as amended by ordinary resolution on 16 April 2009. ReGrultmen( Inductlon and Tralnlng of Trustees We appointed two new Trustee thts year. Frank and Carolyn Cliff. They were provided with the approprfate documents relating to govemance and have been suppcAtsd when necessary. We continue to look for new trustees. No trustees will be stsnding down this year but it is still important for us lo recrult. We continue lo need to appoint some trustees between 16 to 18 as we slill have no young representatlves at the moment. An induction arKI training process for trustees to ensure they are aware of role and responsibilities is in place and an Inducllon pack Is now avallablo for new trustees. The Managem•nt Commltt•e The charity currently has 10 trustees. All live in the Tow Law area apart from our Secretary who lives in Broompark 9 miles wway. Our Chairman is a Mentor al Durtrn University. our Secretary is a retired solicitor and of our remaining members some are local business people, one is a retired social worker and the remalnder are retired from fvii time work. Th8 committee meets monthly apart from August and December and are responsible for overall management of the Centre. The centre carelaker deals with day to day problems and refers them to the management committee as necessary. All members of the Management Committee give th8ir11me voluntarity and receive no benefit from Ihe charty. Rlsk Management Our blggest rfsk remains maintaining income to meet overheads. We still have a healthy balance on reserves bul it is reduclng. We continue lo furKI as much ongoing maintenance and repair through grants bul we still need to be able to fund some with our own funds. Our aim as a committee is to try and relain as much of this reserve as we can to maintain our solvency into the fulure. The secretary and treasurer meet regularly *ryth the Chainnan to look at and monitor our finances. We also need to increase our activities at th8 centr8 to ensure an income stream. Wè need to ensure that the activities we provide are rèlavant to the local communty and our users and to continue to look at opportunities to increase those activities. We also need to recruit rr#Ne Trustees to ensure continuty arKI sustainabilty of tha organlsallon. We continue to review our Health arKI Safety and other pollcies lo ensure we comply with current legislation and the premises are as safe as they can be. In the comiThJ year we wlll need to explore altemative energy contracts as our current ones will come lo an end in September 2025. We have been protected from the worst of the energy price increases so faf but will have to look at ways of saving energy in the future.
