The club ran the following teams:
-
U10s in local competition/SY central venue league
-
U12s in local competition/SY central venue league
-
2 x U14 teams - National League (Basketball England) U14 premier team – Achieved National 3[rd ]
-

-
2 x U16 teams – National League (Basketball England) U16 premier team – made the National
-
Quarter Finals

Division 2 (Basketball England) – North Div 2 Winners & Play Off Champions
-
WBBL (Professional) – 4[th] in the league/Cup Final semi finalists
The club also had a number of junior and senior players representing England U14 (2), U15 (3), GB women (2) in international competition, along with our WBBL Head Coach Vanessa Ellis, who also flew the flag for the club as GB Women’s Assistant Coach.
Participation “pay as you play” sessions were also run on a weekly basis coached by the WBBL players for girls to try basketball which continues to increase our membership numbers, hence the club running multiple teams at both the U14 and U16 age groups, but in different competitive levels to cater for the different levels of ability and experience.
The WBBL team joined forces with the Sheffield Sharks Men’s BBL team and moved to the purpose built Canon Arena on the Olympic Legacy Park in Sheffield. Match attendance have grown significantly this year thanks to club volunteers, the new partnership at the Arena and the WBBL players who regularly promote the game within the Sheffield schools and Hotshots community programme. Along with all of our social media platforms, again a mix of volunteer and professional club input we now have one of the best SM followings in women’s basketball.

Respective responsibilities of the Trustees and the examiner
The charity's trustees are responsible for the preparation of the accounts.
The charity's trustees consider that an audit is not required for this year (under section 144(2) of the Charities Act 2011 (the 2011 Act)) and that an independent examination is needed.

kept by the charity and a comparison of the accounts presented with those records. It also includes consideration of any unusual items or disclosures in the accounts, and seeking explanations from you as trustees concerning any such matters.
The procedures undertaken do not provide all the evidence that would be required in an audit, and consequently no opinion is given as to whether the accounts present a "true and fair view" and the report is limited to those matters set out in the statement below.
Independent examiner's statement
In connection with my examination, no matter has come to my attention
-

Notes to the accounts
for the year ended 31 May 2024
1 Receipts and payments accounts
Because the level of income and expenditure is below £250,000, the group has opted for accounts prepared on a receipts and payments rather than an accruals basis.
This is in line with Charity Commissioners guidelines for small charities and is seen as more appropriate for this project.
