Trustees' annual report 2023/2024
The Friends of St Wilfrids School
Charity Number: 1122140
The past twelve months for the Friends of St Wilfrids has been another successful one. The year has started with new a new committee. This Committee has driven forward with a new banking facilities, newsletters and ideas.
The banking is evolving in order to make the running of events easier to manage. This is through the use of Parent Pay and the increased use of cashless events. Banking has moved to Bankline which has a two step verification process thus providing the required transparency and necessary careful management to protect the funds available. Many thanks on behalf of Friends to Charlotte Jago for setting up the new system.
Newsletters to provide the wider school network informative updates have moved onto sway. These are mobile friendly to read and interact with. Many thanks must go to Louise Rafferty for the work that she does on this front.
The Committee have reintroduced previously run events such as Mothers Day teas. Brought in new fundraising ideas such as wreath making and Christmas tree collection services. The wreath making evening was a stunning success in both demand and it’s resulting revenue.
Friends continue to run discos, movie nights etc. These keep the organisation ticking over throughout the school year.
The two largest fundraising events remain the Christmas Fayre and Walking Day. Both yield similar returns. The running of Walking Day with a completely new team was of particular satisfaction for those involved.
The funds generated have been spent on the refurbishment of the cabin, a reflection area within the school grounds as well as enrichment for school pupils. This has involved authors on world book day as well as theatre productions within schools.
Friends can only be run by willing volunteers and organisers. As Chairman I would like to place thanks to any school stakeholder who has been part of the past year in these two capacities. We’re indebted to your help.
