Section D Achievements and performance Mainly through illness, there has been a requirement for members to be Summary of the main flexible in their responsibilities within the Club, which has not led to any achievements of the charity issues. during the year The potential move within the club to become a Charitable Incorporated Organisation (CIO) is still moving apace. The splitting of the Anglers from the Club to form ‘Apex Angling’ has been completed with no problems reported. Racing appears to be gaining in strength, with good levels of attendance at both Sunday (all day) and Wednesday evenings, weather allowing. Youth sailing in particular has been very popular and Saturday training/coaching has enabled a steady improvement in skill levels, with many progressing through RYA assessment levels. Some parents have also become more involved in sailing and support activities both on the water and an shore with launching / recovering boats, simple maintenance and providing safety cover. As in other years, RYA level 1 and 2 courses for beginners have been a success with a total of 24 students, all successfully gaining a qualification. A number have elected to carry on their sailing by joining the Club. A number of social activities have been run throughout the year in the club, encouraging members to share skills and experiences. They have also been the source of extra income for the club. The grounds maintenance and minor repairs of club boats has been almost exclusively carried out be the ‘Wednesday Gang’; a group of mainly retired members. Some have passed beyond the stage of feeling comfortable going on the water, but still want to remain actively engaged with the club. We continue to support the activities of the Lincoln and District Sailing Association and Hykeham Sailability, bringing sailing opportunities to those who may never otherwise get the chance. We are continuing with our efforts to negotiate an extension to our lease agreement for use of the lake. Clearly, until we have a suitable lease secured, it would be inappropriate to commit to large levels of Capital expenditure.
