1268 visits made.
The Infonnation and Advlco servlce has been working in partnershlp with many organisations to provlde an outreach s8r¥ic8
in Communities including St Cuthberts Hospke, Durham and Dadington Carer8 and l(Kality teams.

Chapter SO Informallon and Advlc• - 18 SUPPOrting the dellvery of on8-to￿ne advice to Ihe m08t vulnerable and isolated
people across Ihe County through fundlng from the National Lottery.
Rotall - The ￿ retail outlets. Superstore and Hldd8n Boutlque have recovered w811 from the forced closures due to the
pandemi¢. Incorne from Ihe sale of donated goods has lota118d £242,000. a 110/0 increase on th8 prevlous year. Glft Aid has
risen to an av8rage 47%.
Actlvltl•s programm• - 33 activities covering exercls8. craft8, dance and culture have been delivered to approximately 293
individuals, Delivery has been posslble through fvnding from Sport England, Ballinger Twsl, Awards for All and durin9 the
year 641 sessions have been held across the county vAlh 4170 attendances.
Tho Shed - based In Belmont offers sessions in upcycllng and woo¢tsorklng. liem8 created are to be sold in the charfty's
retail stor8s. Additlonal wood worklng and crafting $8sslons have been popular,

contscts and supported 442 people aged 50+ living with anxieties. low mood and depr8sslon.
A rolllng programme ol Cognltlvo Sllmulallon Th•rapy has been d8llver8d a¢r0&8 the County for people wlth mlld to
moderate dementla. This work has helped 25 older people and carers lo connect wlth others and maintain their health.
Tho Help at Home proJèct- 8UPPOrt8 those people aged 50+ who are isolated and requlre asslstance wllh shopping. During
the year, 1,013 shopping tasks were completed, 446 of whlch were online shops, 567 face tr) face lobs completed by 7
volunteers.
Chapter 50 Future You - Fund8d through th8 National Lottery programme. ihis project alms to support people aged 50-69
liv8 longer healthl8r later Ilv8$. Commencing in October 2024. the two-year project focused cm communitie$ in Newton
Ay¢liffe and Waardale, aims lo support 500 people aged s￿69 per year.
The Dlgltal Incluslon programme ofwork has delivered funded by Bèllev• and ICB.
Household Support Fund administered by Durham County Council during the months O¢tober 2024 to March 2025
enabled Age UK County Durham to deliver 7595 hot meals lo an average of 353 dienls per month. 100 vouchers totalling
£5.000 supported 98 peoplo aged 50+ with food and essentlal Pufchases.
Older Poople In Prfson Servlce - Age UK County Durham host an Actlvitle8 w0￿er on behalf of Age UK North Tyneslde
to deliver activity sessions in ThJrham4)ased prlsons.
During the year the organisation has continued lo develop its webslle, and this can b8 found at

In what continues to be an increasingly Challenging environment for fundlng, the Trustees consider the financial position of
the organisation tr) be sound and continue to review Ihe fundraising strategy to ensure thal sufficient fijnds are availabl8 for
fulure years. Age ConGem Dutham County recognises that al any time lis accounts will hold both reslrkted funds, vthich
are monies held subject to $pe¢ific conditions sel by a donoror fund8r, and unrestrictèd fvnds. 11 is the policy of Age Con¢em
Durham County to allocate a pn)portion of its unreslrictad fijnds for certain destgnat8d purposes and to hold the balance as
a General UnreslrEct8d Fund. The Truste8s recognlse Ihe significant work put in by the Senior Team. partiGularty the CEO,
to source funding to maintain and further expand the charSty'8 servlces to the Gommunity of County Durham.

The Charity's lolal reserves as at 31 March 2025 w8r8 £2,723.000 of which £580,000 w8r8 re8trtct8d funds. The Charity
recognl8e8 that these restricted funds are mon18$ held subject to Speclfic condltlons set by the donor or funder.
Free resaNes are calculated as unrestricted r888Nes that are freely available and are the net current assets of th8 ch8rity,
excluding restricted and d8slgnat8d funds. As at 31 March 2025 free resernes are calculated as totalllng £1.087,000 (2024.,
£1,068,000).
The policy of the organisation is to hold free reseries approximately equlv8lent to twelve months, nomial revenue
expenditure, currently forècast to be lo £1,1 $8,000 per annum. This will enable the organlsatlon to ¢onlinue lo operate and
malntaln services should Ih8r8 b8 any InlerNption in any of its fundlng sourc8s and to provide resources lor any slgnificant
mainlenance vmrk required to Age UK House. Thls policy is reviewed annually In the light of an annual risk audlt and such
advice as may be tendered from tirne to tlme by the organlsatlon's audllors.
A Property Fund has been 8Stablished vlth a bala￿e equal to the net book value of Age UK House. whlch at 31 March 2025
was £153,000. In addition, an Investmanl Propéty Fund has been created to reflect the fair value of the portlon of Age UK
Hous8 thal Is avallable for rental. Followlng a upward revalualion of £23,000. the balance of this fund at 31 March 2025 is
£500,000. Together. these two funds onable the malorlty of the Charity's non-liquid reserves to be clearly identified.
In prevlou8 years Ihe charity had partlcipated In a muStS-employer defined benefit pension scheme however thls path¢ipation
ceased some time ago. A Pension Deslgnaled Fund was creat8d to provlde for the settlement costs of the organisalion's
remaining penslon deficlt. During this financlal year th1$ pension liability was fully settlad. and there is no outslandlng balance
shown in Ihe Balance sheet within Creditors.
The Investment Fund for retail dev8lopment, whiGh had a balance of £62,000 al 31 March 2025 {see note 15.2) was cr8al8d
for investment In developirvJ our own Independent network ofcharity shops. Slgnlficant progress has been made In 8labili*ng
Ihe Charity's retall offer. and as a result, the deslgnated fund was not requlred during 2024125. The Trust88s Intend lo
conlinue reseNing these funds to support fetail 8Ctivlty, r8cogni8ing the ongoing challen￿8 presented by cosl of Ilvlng
pressures and increases to the National Living Wage.
In pr8vIous y8ars, to enable servic88 to continue in Ihe event of a temporary drop in income a designated fund131 March
2024: £217,000) was ¢realed which would support the running costs of projects, primarily staffing cosls. In r8cognltion ol an
increasing rlsk regarding continuation of some of the charity's long standlNJ funding arrangements, In partlcular local
authority contracts. The furKI is used in the avant that fundiThJ ceases and acts as a brfdge until such tirne as new fundlng
can be obtained or, as a last resort (although this has nol been necessary this financlal year), thal services ¢an be wound
down in such as way as to r8duce the direct impact on vulnerable older people using these servlces. This desonation has
allowad for a ran9e of social acllvltles. digital work and programme management (o continue to be 8UPPOrted by dedicated
staff throughout the financial year al an annual cost of £114,000. It is the Trustees intention lo incr8ase the designated fund
held by £159,000 leaving a fund valu8 of£262.000 to continue to be held lo ensur8 that essential services can be malntained
should futuffj funding Interruptions occur.
A further Designated Fund continues lo be held to support actfvlties for older pec>ple where the Charity acts as an enabler
and for vthlch short-temi funding is unavallable.

at thesa meetings. The Board of Trustees devolves some of It8 work to sub-groups from time to time, These groups have
fornial tem18 of reference, and any reports or recommendatlon8 are iemitted to the Board ofTrustees for d8cislon or approval.
