support people aged 50 plus during thg ¢0s1-of-livlng crisls. The Information and Advlce leam idenlilied vulnerablg older
people who are stru9gllng financially with the increased cost ol living and have managed appllcalions lo the Household
Support Fund. Older people have been supported with enQ￿Y vouchers, shopping vouchers, while good5, Portable
heaters and healed Ihrows, The allocated £185,500 has been spent. Tha WO￿ Included working with other
organisallons lo deliver 7,630 lunded hol maals lo 326 Clients across Shildon, Sacriston and Nowlon Ayclille during
the period.
Retall The two relall oullets, Superstore and Hldden Boutique continue lo provlde unreslricled lunding lor the
organlsalion and sales have risen by 6¥/• on last year. The proportion of donated goods receivo(I which attract Gift Aid
has Increased la an average 0156%.
Soelal Engagemenl - the soclal engagement programme, Inco￿OrateS a hosl of seNice9 that promote mental and
physical wellbeing Includin9 lunch and breaklast clubs, exercise, craft and recTeatlonal se&sions. We are committed lo
developing our setvice offering lo meel the ne8ds ol adults aged SOY￿ and over countywide. In lotal during the year,
we have hosled 680 sesslons with an attendance of 4,954 and engaged 364 new participanl8.
Th• Shed based In Belmont continues lo support men's mental h•allh and offers weekly woodworking sa85ions with
Ihe items cw8aled offered lor sale in Ihe charilies, retail slores.
Dlgltal 1nelu8lon - Ihls project alms to reduce digllal exclusion by ralslng awareness and developing Ihe digital skills
ol older adults. 1,224 older people hav8 been guidod through th8 digilal programme., one to one support dirrfted lo
423 clients whh 15 g￿uP sesslons. Digilal Champlons are essential lo the successful delivery of the serwice and 11
have been recwulled.
The Help at Home serrfice ceased in Decembar 2023 due lo the unsuccesslul recruitment of Voluntee￿ to stspport th8
demand. The shopplng seThice conllnues %wth 1,140 trlps completed during the year, made possib18 by 13 regular
volunteers.
Menlal Wellbelng - Funding was secured from the Clinical commissloning groups (CCG) lo develop a mental heallh
support programme for older people living with low mood due lo the pandemic in 2021. Working in partne￿hiP wilh
Tees, Esk and Wear Valleys NHS Foundation Trusl. The project aims to pr8venl the escalation of poor Mental health
due to the effects of Covid 19 and more recenlly the Impacl upon mental health ol the cost of Ilving, 8n8rgy costs and
Ukraine conflict.
Employing 2 Psycholherapists, 2 Welfare Woth8rs and an Occupational Therapist and a Physiothefapist, the
programme has received 7,057 contacts and supported 456 older people living with anxiety, low mood and depression.
Th8 team have delivered wellare calls to 182 Indlviduals. supported 69 clients with phy5iOtherapi8s, 40 with
occupalional therapi8s and 166 peq)le aged 50 plus have rec8•ved one to one counsellin9.

17 older people and carers lo connect with others and malntain Ih8lr health. Thls concluded in October 2023, but MCST

A European Soclal Fund {ESFI lunded project in partnership with New Coll8g8 Durham, Communities Work began In
September 2021 and concluded In April 2023 with all targets ol supportlng older people lo access leaming and
volunleerlng opportunities mel.

funds, which are monies held subiKt lo specilic conditions $81 by a donor or lundgr, and unreslric18d funds. 11 is the
policy ol Age Concem Durham Counly lo allocale a proportion of Its unTeslrKl8d funds for certaln designaled pU￿oseS
and to hold the bala￿e as a General Unreslricled Fund. The T￿￿teaS recognise the slgnificanl work pul In by Ihe
Senior Team, in partlcular the CEO. to source lunding to malntain and lurther expand Ihe charity's services to the
community ol County Durham.

any signilicanl rnaintenance work required lo Age UK House. Thls policy Is revi8wed annually In Ihe lighl of an annual

A Property Fund has bèen crealed wllh a balance equal to lh• nel b¢)ok value of Age UK House, at 31 March 2024 this
was £157,000. In addition an investment property fund, £477,106. ha8 been created to ref18Ct the lair value of Ihe
elemant of Age UK House whlch is avallable for rental. These Iwo lund8 enable most of tha Charity'8 non liquid reser¥es
lo be easity idenlrfiable.
A Designated Fund has been created lo cover Ihe costs ol the organlsalion's remaining pension delicit. The remaining
balance of thi5 Pension Liability. £30,970, Is shown in the Balance Sheet wilhin Credllots. The lund bal8nce remains
at £40.000 {s88 nola 17.21 to provide Ihe financial resou￿9 required to covei the estirnaled prolesslonal advlsors, lees,
