Strurture. governance and management
Churchill Music is governed by the declaration of trust that was dated 12 August 2007. The
Charity Commission's model trust deed IGD21 was used for this. Key elements include:
Churchill Music shall be administered by its trustee5 and has no members.
The day-to-day running of Churchill Musids activities shall be performed by a sub-
committee. consisting of two of the trustees. This 'operations' sub-committee will meet
regularly and record any key decisions in a record book. It may engage performer5 UP to
a fee of £1,500. Above this amount, the Trustees must be consulted.
New Trustees should be appointed for a term of 3 years by a resolution of the Trustees
passed at a special meeting called under clause 15 of the Trust Deed.
Meetings shall be held as often as is deemed necessary. however there should be a
minimum of two, in the spring and autumn. to ensure the season's bookings and the
accounts are discussed.
Churchill Music Is committed to its various projects, which provide people from the
surrounding area with access to high quality musicians, workshops. concerts and
wellbeing projects.

Churchill Music Treasurer keeps a reserve as a contingency where a concert has to be
cancelled at short notice.
Objectives and activities

"The aim of Churchill Music is to promote, develop, improve and maintain public education in, and
appreciation of, the art and science of music in all its aspects. by the presentation of public concerts
and recitals and by liaison with local schools and by such ways as the trust, through its trustee5,
shall determine from time to time.

All the above is delivered with the assistance of small donations from Champions of Churchill
Music lfriendsl. Churchill Music has maintained its strong reputation for excellence. innovation
and friendliness.
Achievements and performance
The Trustees are once again delighted with the achievements over the past year.
> Five world-class concerts were held. The feedback from audience members was
consistently positive, enthusiastic and complimentary. Audience numbers were healthy.
> Churchill Music Young Muslcian of the Year now in its 17th year was a great success.
Contesters included students who had started the violin in the taster lessons at Wrington
Primary school. A further award, The Raymond Haytersong Prize in memory of Raymond
Hayter, is made to the student at Churchill Academy who has shown great promise and
would benefit from recognition for determination and commitment.
> Churthlll Muslc vlolln ProJert- violin taster lessons to all year 2 or 3 pupils at Churchill
and Wrington Primary Schools continued to be a great success with more pupils at
Wrington Primary school choosingto continue lessons. A Yiolin club. is planned to start
in September 2025 in Churchill Primary School.
> Masterclasses: Churchill Music supported the following:
o World renowned clarinettist, Michael Colllns Churchill Academy. Backwell School
and Bristol University.
Bones Apart-the internationally acclaimed trombone quartet Churchill Academy
and Churchill Primary School.
o The Carducci Quartet in Churchill Academy and Wrington Primary school.
Peter Donohoe OBE, pianist, CM patron masterclass open to pianist5 in local
schools including St. Crispen's School in Street and competitors from the district
final of the Rotary Young Musician competition.
> The Power of muslc project: Delivered in 24 primary schools to date extending to primary
schools in Bristol and further afield.

The Sln8 for Fun project - weekly. health and wellbeing sin8in8 sessions which are open to
all, remain popular with an average of 3CFtr attendees each week. A group of 20
volunteered to sing carols in the corridor of Weston Hospital before Christmas which was
well received with patients and staff passing by who stopped to join in even for one verse.
We were grateful for the support of the Churchlll & Langford mlnlbus to transport the
singers.
Churchill Music continues to explore new projects and ways to support music education in
schools within the area.
The use of a'comms, person to revamp the Churchill Music website and social media
output has been successful and will be evaluated further.
Financlal Review
The Trustees consider the year to have been another success though still recovering from
the devastating effects of the COVID19 pandemic. Times and communication method5 are
chan8in8. Churchill Music is endeavourin8 to keep well informed and to inform.
There were sli8htly fewer Indivldual Champlons,1112 Indlvidualsl compared 124 Indlvlduals
the previous year. This Is mainly due to the ageing population and people movin8 Out of
the area. The Trustees have tried to address thls by movin8 concerts to Sunday afternoons
making them more accessible to some. rather than evening events in line with social trends
nationally. Through its regular newsletters and social media channels Churchill Muslc
continues to promote the health and wellbein8 benefits of learnin8 a musical instrument at
any a8e. attendln8 top quality live chamber music concerts Sn the company of others and
the health and wellbein8 benefits of communal singln8.
