Chairmans Report 2020-2021
Our delayed AGM was held in August 2021, and we had good attendance, which in the circumstances was pleasing.
Two new committee members were added to our number, Mrs. Susan Ashman Press officer, and Mrs. Diane Kemp Assistant Secretary.
It was agreed that Mrs. Mavis Hancock would continue for one further year so that Diane Kemp could follow her to learn the role and responsibilities.
Mr. Trevor Hancock would stay on for a final year to assist The Treasurer during this difficult time.
We have focussed on recruitment and our number has reached 480 but it is still below our previous membership circa 600, and that was what all our financial forecasts required.
We have 48 active groups, and many turned to online methods to maintain activity throughout the pandemic, our thanks go to all of them for all their hard work.
Increasing the use of Lund house is a priority we have had some success, introducing Table Tennis, Pilates, and additional watercolour tuition.
New activities are now a priority to make full use of the facilities in Lund House.
Succession planning has always been problematic, and we shall lose the Treasurer and the Chairman at the next AGM, at the moment we do not have people interested in taking on these important posts.
The whole of the committee has worked very hard to put Biddulph U3A back on Track and my personal thanks go out to them.
