1.19|The academic year 2022-2023 was successful,
for Cambridge Russian school.
Our pupils all pass and received great results
for Russian GCSEs exams. Our pupils have
received three grade 8’s and twelve grade 9’s.
The school has been continuing to provide a
wide variety of classes ranging from academic
subjects like Russian language and literature,
exam courses GCSE and A-level, to vocational
subjects like programming, ceramics and
Russian dance for students aged 3 to 18, and
classes of Russian language for adults. We also
offered several classes in Ukrainian for kids
who arrived in the past year.
Full year school operations have been run
smoothly and effectively by our wonderful and
very hardworking administrative team – the
director Jelena Carter and the senior
administrator Marina Olefir, helped by our
dedicated duty team.

online and in person meetings during the
school year.

|||On December 10, a wonderful and fun
traditional Christmas celebration was held at
the school for our students and guests of the
school. For younger students from 4 to 7 years
old we held a Christmas Round Dance with
Santa Claus and gifts, and then in the Student
Center it was possible to do crafts with school
teachers Valentin Rusinov, Svetlana Mellusko,
Elena Rodionova, Svetlana Shmeleva and Yulia
Lutseeva. Our teachers together created a
Christmas nativity scene, made various
decorations for the Christmas tree, painted
pebbles and decorated cookies. A children’s
room was open for the kids, Santa Claus and
his elves handed out gifts, held a lottery. The
older kids Played board games together with
teacher Olga Romanova, and everyone could
bring their home-made treats for the Feast.
In addition to that, On December 10, our
school also organized free Christmas party in
Ukrainian, for children who have recently
arrived from Ukraine, with the help of our
colleagues, teachers from Ukraine: Diana
Gaivanyuk, Irina Ustinova and Yulia
Orshovskaya.

organisation. For many years we have been
striving to keep lesson fees to the minimum to
keep attending the school affordable to as
many families as possible. For families facing
hardships, we offer payments in instalments
and partial bursary payments. We offered
money returns and postponed payments for
families who’s been more than others affected
by cost-of-living crisis. Discounts and subsidies
been offered for Ukrainian families and
Teachers.|

together with the HAF Program in
Cambridgeshire organised a summer
camp for children from Ukraine. The
camp was hosted by St Clements Church,
Cambridge. The participants worked on
their English, learned to navigate their
surroundings, painted in the open air and
played games both indoors and outdoors
in the nearest park.
A big thank you to the teachers from our
school and our colleagues from Ukraine
for the fact that we managed to launch
the camp at such short notice. Special
thanks to Suzi Brandes: without her
active work on this project, the camp
would not have taken place.
