The school has been continuing to provide a
wide variety of classes ranging from academic
subjects like Russian language and literature,
exam courses GCSE and A-level, to vocational
subjects like programming, ceramics and
Russian dance for students aged 3 to 18, and
classes of Russian language for adults.
First months of the term the school operations
have been run smoothly and effectively by our
wonderful and very hardworking
administrative team – the director Jelena
Carter and the senior administrator Marina
Olefir, helped by our dedicated duty team.
By agreement with Long Road Sixth Form
college, we started our academic year a little
later that year - on September 19. With lots of
safety measures and additional risk assessment
established by government and college. We
also gave students and their families
opportunity to carry on online learning if they
wish to. Online schedule was built based on
students’ needs and requests.
Additional cleaners been employed by college
for ensuring the rooms are left cleaned and
sanitised after our lessons. Trustees team
helped school to monitor additional cleaning
and to implement one waysystem forparents|

and students. Organisation QR codes been
displayed for track and trace.
Trustees and administrations held an online
meeting with parents 13/10/2020
Halloween party for kids and their parents.
(With social distance) been organised before
the half term.
November 2020
Since the start of second lockdown in UK with a
huge support from the Trustee team Russian
School switched again to most of the lesson
online. Almost all teachers ran their lessons
online via zoom. We managed to keep majority
of pupils at school, since start of the online
learning. The trustees have been on hand to
advise the administrative team as required and
met several times (online) to discuss the
direction of the schoolwork with the
administration to achieve our goals.
We returned to school on December the 5 [th]
and managed to organise Christmas presents
for students during the following Saturday.
From January till February 2021 during 3 [rd]
lockdown school successfully operated online.
From Saturday 13 March we returned to school
classes, as agreed with the college. With
additional measures and restrictions.
AGM and Trustees election been organised
online.
Open Day at our school on June 26 [th] for new
kids and parents.
Annual BBQ organised by Trustees for parents
and kids 03/07/21

Achievements against our largest group, some drama, dance, and art
objectives set classes.
We also had to reduce the maximum classes
size, splitting larger classes into smaller groups
to facilitate online teaching. This made classes
significantly less profitable.
However, as a gesture of goodwill we much
appreciated, we were not charged rent by the
College, which provided a significant saving.
We also made some savings on teachers’ travel
costs, photocopying, and materials.
We had therefore achieved a healthy financial
result despite the difficulties.
