HOSANNA SUPPORT GROUP

ANNUAL REPORT 2022 / CHARITY NO. 1120997

AIM:

THANK YOU

Anne and her team connue to work relessly towards ensuring our sponsored children receive the best care, support and educaon possible; always exploring how best to support our children and their families during these sll challenging mes – especially with the cost of living crisis that connues in the wake of the pandemic.

A huge thank you to all our sponsors – Anne couldn’t do this without you!

PRIDIE TIERNAN

To advance the educaon and enhance the life opportunies of children in poverty in and around Kampala, Uganda – in parcular, but not exclusively, by provision of financial support.

this me with a brand-new dormitory at Childcare Primary School thanks to Brimsham Green. Unable to travel over during the pandemic, the 2022 expedion students decided to donate everything they had raised to ensuring the children have a beauful new home when they are at staying residenally at school now.

The cost of living remained high following Covid and students and families connued to struggle in the aermath of the pandemic. Anne and her team responded as they always do – working exceponally hard to make sure our students were able to catch up

The team could not have done this without your support! Thank you!

PRIMARY STUDENTS

to catch up with the work missed during the pandemic.

SECONDARY AND TRAINING STUDENTS

Doreen connued to maintain frequent contact with our students – travelling between secondary schools and student homes, and communicated frequently with everyone. This is an enormous challenge logscally and an excellent job done by Doreen. Secondary workshops connued termly and these were very well received by students and their families – providing an opportunity for them all to get together to celebrate their achevement, receive support and mentoring from the team, and also have access to food bags that helped with the escalaon in food costs following the pandemic. Our oldest students progressed on to do a variety of courses. We had one student doing a two year accountancy course, one doing computer studies, one training to be a midwife, two compleng their nursing training, one training as a hairdresser and one student doing an art and design course.

RENOVATION

Covid made it impossible for Brimsham students to visit which was heartbreaking for everyone. But the team instead donated the funds they had raised to build a beauful new dormitory for the children who board at the school. This renovaon was completed at the end of the 2021 and the dormitory was in full operaon at the start of 2022. It has made such a difference for all those children from Kisenyi staying residenally at the school. Support this year has also come from Old Sodbury Primary school in the UK who are raising funds for the team to build washing and toilet facilies on site.

FINANCES

This year the charity received £34,680.92 and transferred £41,067.50. In 2021, in response to the pandemic, funds were directed into the home education projects and food for the children. No active fundraising could be carried out. In addition to this, the charity needed to cover the costs of a big increase in children s school fees at the beginning of 2022. Finances were tight and focus needed to be on school fees as a priority. We were lucky enough to receive some generous donations, but 2023 will definitely be the year to focus on fundraising.

LOOKING FORWARD

a result of increased living costs in the aermath of the pandemic. We could not have supported our children and their families without your generous sponsorship and donaons. Finally, we can now begin to look ahead once again and much more confidently plan the future work of Hosanna Support Group’s partnership with Smile Children Ministries.

The Trustees would like to thank everyone for their paence, love and support over the last year and we look forward to having you with us as things move forward in 2023.

With thanks and best wishes,

Pridie Tiernan (on behalf of the Trustees)
