Deben Players Chairmans/Trustees report AGM held 17" November 2025 at Burness Parish Rooms.

First Humpty Dumpty written by Simon and directed by Jan and Mel, this was a very well received production and had a good attendance. The Script was from 12 years ago and Simon tweaked it to bring it up to date. A cast of 40 were on the Stage and it came across as a fabulous family pantomime. We had some very flattering reviews from our audience and it was nominated by NODA for best pantomime. One thing that | love about the Deben Players is the teamwork that seems to magically happen. It doesn’t of course, a lot of hard work and dedicated people|went into this production and | am proud of them and very grateful. Thank you to all who took part.

Our party was held at Melton Parish Rooms on Saturday 11" January. It was well attended and a lot of organisation went into running it and keeping everyone involved. Thank you. On Sunday 11" May | attended the NODA East awards at Stevenage. No sooner had| sat down than| had to get up to accept the best drama award for “It Runs n the Family”. Then no sooner had | sat down again | had to get up to accept the best Pantomime award for “Humpty Dumpty”. A well-deserved congratulations to all involved in both productions.

A Flea in Her Ear in May was'an outstanding success. Directed by Henry with a very able team around him. It was written in 1907 and is a masterpiece of wit, humour and mistaken identity which has stood the test of time. Henry brought all of these out to the delight of our audience. The set was magnificent and the change between Acts 2 and 3, choreographed by Sam, was resplendent. The production would have been perfect were it not for some idiot who kept interrupting with a cough! That aside it was a huge success with our audiences and we had wonderful feedback. Thank you to everyone involved.

Cheese Cracker written by Sam and performed at Farlingaye was our summer junior production. The performance day, Saturday 28" June was the hottest day of the year and the cast did well to put on 2 performances. Once again, our juniors proved what a talented bunch they are. We must continue to support and encourage our juniors as they are the future of the society. Thank you to every person involved.

On Golden Pond came next at the Seckford Theatre in September. What a delight this Production was and gave us an emotional piece of theatre. Directed by Richard it explored family relationships, love, regrets and the fragility of life as we get older. The scenery was brilliant with a rustic cabin and a jetty which jutted out into the auditorium. A beautiful production which was well received by our audience. Thank you to all involved. |

Catherine Dixey, our local NODA representative organised an awards event on Sunday 14 September at Henley Community Centre. The idea was Catherines and she wanted to make these awards much| more localised and recognise local talent. Several of us attended and there were many other local drama groups in attendance as well. We won, Individual performance ina play, Sam Broadley as Clement in A Flea in Her Ear. Individual performanceina pantomime,|Simon Dodwell as Mother Hubbard in Humpty Dumpty and

Anniversarya certificate of excellenceto Sam Harvey for all her work and research for the 60% to Celebrations. Sam was also declared a National Treasure. Congratulations all. Catherine hopes to make this an annual event. | am proud to say that our ticket prices are the lowest in the surrounding area. By keeping them low we enable a wide range of people to enjoy a trip to the theatre. This is particularly relevant when a family comes to our pantomime. | hope that we can continue to keep them low in the future.

Our website was re written by Andy and looks very professional. It has a lot of information on it plus a video vault section where you can view past productions and happenings such as our 60% Anniversary production. Thank you, Andy, much appreciated.

During the year we decided to give committee members tasks within the society. We now have three trustees, Richard, Neill and Steve who are responsible for the management of our charity Status. Mel — Safeguarding, Front of House — Richard, Membership — Fi-Fi - Website — Andy, Promotions — Steve, Workshop — Neill, Props — Nikki and Debbie, Artistic Director — Sam, Wardrobe - Mel, Social Secretary— Sarah and Wellbeing — Suzanna. | Coming up some time in the future is a plan to buy a couple of 20ft containers for storage of our scenery. This will allow better use of the space at the workshop for building sets etc. Grundisbourgh Scouts have purchased a field and will allow ius to put the containers on the site. Planning permission is slowly moving forward.
