Relief of financial hardship for people living in India** **TAR** March **2012** 2 **The trustees confirm they have referred to and had regard to the guidance contained in the charity commission’s general guidance with regard to public benefit when reviewing the trusts aims and objectives and in planning activities, including grants.** **With due regard to the guidance issued by the charity commission on public benefit we continue to support a church, offering regular Christian services of worship and teaching.** **We also support a residential school for poor children who would otherwise be unable to receive an education. Education is currently provided from reception through to Standard 10 (GCSE equivalent). No school or accommodation fees are charged. Despite some disruption to their courses, they all passed in June 22 and have continued into further education, all at degree level.** **Three more students took ‘A’ Level equivalent exams Feb-March 2023. All have been funded with additional tuition as required. As results are awaited, they are being mentored to consider their next steps.** **We continue to fund Higher education. We are funding 2 student doing BSC in Physical Education, 1 doing Social work, 1 doing BSC in Animation, 1 doing a BSC Physiotherapy, 1 doing a BSC Nursing, and 1 doing a BSC Airlines, Tourism and Hotel Management.** **We have given some small independent living grants to young people who have finished studies and started working. We were delighted to see students we have funded gain qualifications in teaching, nursing, Occupational Therapy, and begin their careers.** **We have facilitated a number of hospital admissions, treatments and investigations for: gallbladder treatment, heart stents, and conditions such as Bells Palsy, malaria, dengue fever and stomach infections.** **We continue to run immunisation programs, health checks and dental checks for all the children in our care and others brought to us who are unable to afford healthcare. We have funded treatment as needed following check-ups.** **We teach about good nutrition, hygiene and healthy lifestyle to improve the health and wellbeing of children and families attending Morning Star School and church and their communities. A student gained a prize in a state competition for a poster designed to promote a healthy environment.** **TAR** March **2012** 4 Section E Financial review We aim to keep a minimum of £12,000 in ￿SerVe to be used to meet unforeseen expenditure that may occur and to meet our obligations in case of insufficient fvnds being raised.
