Blackpool Tiggers AGM Chair Report 10/07/2022
Blackpool Tiggers, in 2021, is in its 16[th] year and its 11[th] as a Charity. Like many other Charities during a Pandemic, it has been a tough time financially and hard to raise funds. With the hard work of Dave, Jackie and Donna, we were awarded two grants from Sport England and Kentown Wizard, that enabled us to survive.
The Committee must also thank the families who continued to contribute during lockdown, even though we were not providing a service. Your support was vital and enabled us to restart trampolining, with restrictions in September 2020. Finally, following further closures, we were able to open again in April 2021 under guidance from British Gymnastics.
We again would like to thank our families for their patience and understanding at this time, with the sensory and games rooms out of action and only two families at a time. With everyone’s cooperation we have continued to stay bouncing.
Thanks to the Three Guineas Trust, we have also continued with our Holiday Programme and would like to thank Donna and Emma for organising a range of activities tailored for our member’s needs, which is quite an achievement. Trips have included White Scar Caves, Ingleton Falls, pottery painting, steam trains, horse riding and bowling. We are guided by you and the feedback we receive; we know we can make a difference.
None of this would be possible without our volunteers. Dave and Jackie have continued to travel from Stoke each week and despite wanting to retire in 2021 have
continued to support myself and Donna until we qualify as level two coaches. Their dedication has been extraordinary and as a Charity we will always be grateful.
Donna, you are not only a coach but also singlehandedly run the office, your organisational skills enable us to function. Hilary, we only see you now in Zoom meetings but you continue to be our Treasurer, a quiet and stable influence. Thanks must also go to Nigel, Carol, Abby and our young spotters, you are all so valued.
Our finances remain in a difficult state. Our rent is now over £1700 a month and we need to find ways of securing more funding or opening our venue more frequently for trampolining and sensory sessions. For this we need more volunteers and dare I say, coaches.
Finally, I would also like to thank the whole Committee, with your help, we are still here and continue to provide a service for our wonderful members, who are at the heart of everything we do.
