## a) **The Yoann Foundation for disabled women and children**

The fund currently assists 23 handicapped children, 20 vulnerable women and 23 young seamstresses. The support the mothers of handicapped children receive is money which goes towards helping the women to meet food, housing, medical and physiotherapy costs, school fees and also materials with which to make things to sell (primarily soap). The vulnerable older women are given food. It remains an important aspect of this Foundation that the women and children get together socially regularly throughout the year. Coronavirus restrictions made it difficult for this to happen this year. Another aspect which is increasingly useful is the support of girls being trained in sewing/couture. Those who successfully complete training are given sewing machines (funded by us) at the end of their training.

Total sent this year Yoann Foundation 7,222

## **Diocese of Koupéla: protecting and educating girls**

Ab Gerard YOUGBARE (who runs OCADES) is our chief contact in Koupéla.

We continue to finance a **refuge in Baskouré** which houses young girls who have run away from a forced young marriage. Our giving covers food, electricity, housing, clothes, healthcare costs and training the girls in a trade (making clothes, embroidery, brewing the local beer, weaving, soapmaking, raising of livestock and growing vegetables). They appealed for extra help for purchasing the following: repair to solar panels (£2,414), digging of hole for toilet waste (£941), repair to the roof of the dorm (£825), tables and chairs (£246) and for blackboards and a fridge. An extra £4,426 was therefore sent in September, along with extra funds for the piggery and the replacement fending; all the projects were achieved. We continue to fund 20 girls through **primary school** and 10 girls through secondary school (these are looked after by **St Monique Home** ). All secondary school girls are orphaned of either one or both parents. We have continued to give donations to the **Gounghin Nursery School** and **Primary School** . We continue to include **OCADES** in our giving. OCADES is an organisation which works to give training to disadvantaged girls and women.

## d) **Priest of the Kaya Diocese**

Via this priest, we are able to help not only various individuals, but also a group of women to access training in specific skills: advanced kitchen courses, hairdressing, cloth dying, soap making, bridal clothes and accessories. At the end of their training each one receives support to set them up in business. Vitally, it is through this priest that we have been able to assist the thousands of displaced men, women and children.

In addition, we funded the beds and toilet bought/built (2015), the building of a piggery (2016), repairing the dorm’s roof (2018), a new atelier (£4,500). We are regularly helped with this project by the Soroptomists of Lichfield.

f) Added to the list of giving is the **Diocese of Tenkodogo** where we support the education of young and disadvantaged girls in the diocese. Tenkodogo Diocese **2,000**
