## **Section C                    Objectives and activities** 

- (i) to advance the religion of Islam in the Lewsey Farm and surrounding areas of Luton, in particular for the benefit of the public through the holding of prayer meetings and congregational worship, talks and lectures, public celebration of Islamic religious festivals and producing and/or distributing literature on Islam to enlighten others about Muslims and the Islamic faith

- (ii) to promote for the benefit of the inhabitants of Lewsey Farm and the surrounding areas the provision of facilities for recreation or other leisure time occupation of individuals who have need of such facilities by reason of their youth, age, infirmity or disablement, financial hardship or social and economic circumstances or for the public at large in the interests of social welfare and with the object of improving the condition of life of the said inhabitants within the parameters of the Islamic faith 

- (iii) to advance in life and relieve the needs of young people through Islamic instruction by: 

a. the provision of recreational and leisure time activities provided in the interest of social welfare designed to improve their conditions of life; and

(iv) to advance the education of the public in the Islamic religion and language and the culture and heritage of Muslims in general; and, (v) to further any charitable purpose consistent with the teachings of Islam according to the laws of England and Wales The Society serves the religious, social and cultural needs of the local Muslim population living and working in the Lewsey Farm and surrounding areas of Luton in Bedfordshire. The Society is responsible for the administration of Zakariya Masjid and Madresa-e-Furqaniah and provides academic study, language and religious instruction classes and sports and games activities. The Trustees and community members work closely with other local organisations and faith groups for improvements to facilities and services in the community to ensure they fulfil their legal duties.

**Summary of the main** The Society has launched a campaign for future planning and development of **achievements of the charity** the facilities offered at Zakariya Masjid and of Madresa-e-Furqaniah and **during the year** continues to fund raise to create a reserve to meet any capital expenditure.

I report in respect of my examination of the Trust’s accounts carried out under section 145 of the 2011 Act and in carrying out my examination, I have followed all the applicable Directions given by the Charity Commission under section 145(5)(b) of the Act.
