Summary of the objects of the
charity set out in its
governing document
The charities main aim is to act as a bridge between individuals and
groups who want to help people in need by giving their ts'me, skills.
money and things to those who are in need.
Our main area of adivity centres on those who can give arKI help them to
understand that their giving makes a differen￿ to the person in need. Of
the four ways of giving we mainly focus on the giving of things. These are
offered to us to pass on to someone in need. We arrange to collect the
items and store them in garages loaned to us by Irtdividuals. We then
arrange to deliver them to recipients who have b￿n referred to us by
organisations such as Shelter. Social Services or similar organisation.
The van is crewed by volunteers who give their time to help people in
Summary of the main
activities undertaken for the
public benefit in relation to
these objects (include within
this section the statutory
declaration that trustees have
had regard to the guidance
issued by the Chaiity
Commission on public
benefrt)
We are also given money to use lo buy ilems for recipients or for us to
use to operate the servi￿.
The trustees have regard to the guidan￿ on public benefft issued by the
Charity Commission when exercising any powers to which the guidance
would be relevant. The chanty does this by Iimrting rts activities to those
detailed above, which have been established as being for the public
benefft through the registration of the charrty and the registrations of
others Besoms around the county. arKI by only taking referrals from
statutory bodies arKI other similar organisation. In this way the trustees
are satisfied that support is available to those who have a need and that
the adivity undertaken is of public benefiL The charty's services are
open to all those who want to give regardless of religious belief and to
anyone who has a need idenbfied by a statutory body or similar
organisations
Additional details of objectives and activities (Optional infonnation)

All our reSoUr￿S whether ts'me. skills, money or things are onty used in
accordance with the wishes of the giver. If someone offers us a wardrobe
and asks that rt be given to someone who has just come out of prison
then that is who we give it to. If someone gives us money to buy a
washing machine then that is what we buy and arrange for the company
from which we have purchased it to deliver rt because we feel there is
more dignrty for the reci￿ent that way. We do not apply for grants or
express a need but work though existing relab"onships by encouraging
the giver to see the joy in giving to people in need.

Achievements and performance

Section D
Achievements and performance
Summary of the main
achievements of the charity
during the year
We have maintained the same level of activities as in previous years. We
have Gontinued to maintain the same pattern of van runs as in previous
years and have utilised the space in the garages available to us by
ensuring that wherever possible we collect and deliver on the same van
run. We have explored the ￿nefitS of social medi3 by posting answers to
prayer and good news stories on Fa￿book and Instagram. We arranged
an information weekend at the Message Trust Yorkshire Hub which was
open to anyone interested in being part of our Besom. This has resulled
in two enquiries from people from different churches in Sheffield and we
are going through our recruitment process at the moment. We continue to
be a resour￿ to the Besom network and are part of a cluster which
inclu(les the Besom in Wrral and The Besom in York.
