The estsbtishmenl of a library for the benefit of the general public (such library to be located wthin the borough of
Vlelshpool) and the provision for res8arch and educab'w, of tjooks, maps, plans, plctur85, drawings

media.

Achlevements and pèrfornkince
Significant 8cthit￿8 and 8chfftv8ments again& obFctives
2024 proved to be a difficull year for the Club as It was confronted by sudden deaih of our Chairperson, the
Tesignation through ill-health of a number of Senior officials and vartous health issues Impacting others. Wrthin that
contexi the board met on four o¢c8sions but also found il ￿eSsary to convene a number of interim ffoetlngs in
order to address a range of issues as arose. Despite thesè dIffi￿ltieS our activities were Sustsir￿ witr* a
serie8 of talks belng organised.
Talks were given by Dr. Mary Oldham 'DeconstnKllng Gregynog." The chalJenge$ of a Doctornl Thesig (1 Oth May),
by Davkl Chell 'Re-construding G￿gyncg.' lookn'ng to th8 fulure, (21st September), by our tre8suftr Richard Church
on The hundred ￿ar s8ath for res8M]irs in the Vymwy. Tan81 and Banwy vallgys 1865-1965, <26th October) and
by our editor Dr. David Stethnson on ' Heirs to the Princes - The We18h 8dminlsfr8tive and cumurnl leadership

In addition to the ab¢)ve talks hlghty successful excursions were organlsed durin9 the summer. Thè fir* entalled
visit to the Pontdolgoch ca￿enterS Worfcshop 8nd Wat8r Mill on 20th July when we w&re welcomed by Mr Tim
Chilton. Subsequently, we followed Jn the footsteps of Ihe R8v. John F¥eker.,.
undeT the guidance of Mr Edward
Parry.
The Libr￿ wntinued to be open for Iwo momings each week and the library group has continued its on the
digital library catalogue and a review of the libraries polrries on the acquisition and retention of library materFal.
OUT end￿vOur to secure the publication of The Montgomeryshire Collect￿nS again emerged to the for8 from the
summer of 2024, wlth issue 111 eventually &meTging Irom the press shortly after the end of our financial year.

It is the policy of the Club that unrestricted furK15 which have not be￿ designated for a Specific use should be
maintained at a level equivalent to between three and slx month¥ expenditure. The trustees consider that reseNes
at thls lavel wyll ensufe that, In tho event of 8 significant drop in fvnding, they will be able to continue thè Club's
current adivltles while consideration given to ways in which addition81 f￿d8 may be raised. This leyel of ￿ServeS
has been maintained throughout the year.

the statement of financial activities and the related notes from the charity's accounting records and from information
