needed from lime to time.

The Charity took 0￿r thè fftan8gement of Great w(￿ Camp on 1st Apn'l 2￿7. The is in use during the
months Marth lo November in any year.
In August 2014 a 6 year licen￿ for use of tho Property during thè summer holiday perfods was ontered into
with Scripture Union, for whith a premium of £180.CMJJ was agreed. Thi8 was extended for a fvrther ts¥0 years
in March 2017. This expires in the gjmmer of 2021 and we are in di&￿sSIon wrth Sc*pturg Union reoarding
the future use of thg summer holiday period.
In August 2014, the Slavanka Trust advanced a loan of £200,C(¥) inleftst free 10 year loan se￿red by way of
a first charge on the freehold in order to fa(alitate the purchase of the site. This loan is being repaid by an
annual grant of £20K from Thè Slavanka Trus( receivable on the o)ndition Ihat the trustges of The Slavanka
Trust are satisfied that the charitable actswies currenuy carried on by the Great Wood Twst are conlinuiThJ
broadly as 8t present As al 31 sl March 2021 £60.COJ remaine(l outstanding.

In 2016 Somersel County Counol 8igned a three year I￿l￿g tlcense ag￿ement for the use of the stte for
certain periods during the year, and a g(Kd wotking relationship LDnb"nues be￿een the Trustees and
voluntsers working for the tharity and the staff of the Somerset centre at Trfjlve trorn whi(* th8ir actiwtigs are
managed. Due to the CovTd r8str"tCtions norm￿ ac*Mties on sile were Suspended for the whole year,
retsjmmenang in M8y 2021. but the site was kept open for Kilve to use for re8Pite 8nd other aclivilies
rg14ted lo vulnerablo young people.
No wegkend bookings were possble during the year under r8vithv. The loss of inc4)me was allevtatfjd by the
$peaal Loe41 Authority gr*rEls made to the hosprtality sector in SomerseL
An annual work party of ￿lUnteerS n¢)m)ally Carriès out a great deal of Maintenan￿ wotk during the Easter
holidays, but this did not occur during the year under rgwew due to the Cowd restrictions, bul has been
rearranged for laleAugu¥t 2021.
Flnanclal rnvlew
The charity generated 8n UnreStiic￿ surF4us of £38.867 12020 - surplus £26.3971 during the year under
revrew.
The surplus arose due lo the extraordinary generosty of our suprorters, and Ihe allewatK)n of the lost
income through Govemment support. Generab'ng an annual surplus 1$ necessary to gnable us to repay
outstsnding loans and to maintain a steady programme of improvements to the site.
Due to the nab'onal ccronavirus pandemic our Chaplain had bogn fvrloughed under the Govemmonl
gthemg for part of the year, but is now bad( worknng full time. (hjr setf 8mployad Eslata manager worked
throughout the year, carrying Out 80me usefijl mairrtertance which w0￿d not nonnally have been possible.
Major tree surgery was carried out.
Our budget foreca￿ for 2021122 indi12tes a m8nag8able defioL causeil by the loss of income in Ihe first
quarter of 2021. We had agreed a Stsndby loan fai?lity of £20.￿0 the Slavanka TrusL but we do not
antiap8te any need to draw on this at present
Restrrcted fijnds of £784,849 were held at the year end (2020 - £8￿.117) mainly in relation to donations for
the new Mèss Hut Annual d8preaation on the new P¥les8 Hul is debited to this atxount.
The Trustees have rgviewed the charitys need for reseThes in line wrth the guidance given by the Charity
Commission. Factors taken into 8c¢ount indude the risk of fiulauations in general booking income, unforeseen
expenditure on major repairs and thg need to renovatg arKI replace building$ and equipment from time to
time.
The Trustees consider it prudent lo ￿￿1 in general reser4E an amount equivalent lo behvean six and ￿e1
months general expenditure.
The poliGy on reseNes is revie4￿ annually.
The trustees have assessed the major risks to which the tharity is exposed. and aro 8atisfi8d that systems are
in place to mitsgale exposure lo the major risks.
