Overview
During this reporting period, Liverpool Heartbeat has continued to operate as a volunteer-led charity committed to supporting community wellbeing, youth engagement, inclusion, and cultural enrichment. The charity remains financially stable and responsive, enabling it to support a diverse range of initiatives aligned with its mission.
Ongoing Programmes and Strategic Partnerships
Digital Treasure Hunt Programme (Partnership with PuzzleDuck)
Liverpool Heartbeat has developed an ongoing partnership with PuzzleDuck to deliver a series of innovative Digital Treasure Hunt experiences across multiple UK cities. This programme is designed as a permanent and expanding initiative.
The hunts are delivered via a bespoke mobile application that guides participants through city-based routes, encouraging exploration of cultural and historical landmarks. Participants engage in a variety of interactive tasks, including:

Locating clues (e.g. dates on statues, names on plaques)

Completing creative photography challenges

Solving logic-based puzzles (verbal, non-verbal reasoning, and mathematics)

Answering location-based and general knowledge trivia
The programme promotes:

Physical activity (participants walk approximately 3 miles per experience)

Inclusivity , with accessibility considerations including wheelchair-friendly routes

Skill development , including communication, resilience, teamwork, creativity, leadership, and problem-solving
This initiative offers schools an alternative use of PE and Sports Premium funding, combining physical exercise with cultural and heritage education. Hunts can also be tailored to curriculum topics (e.g. Roman history in Chester), supporting both educational and wellbeing outcomes.
Ongoing Support: Elektric Apple Theatre Group
Liverpool Heartbeat continues to provide sustained support to the Elektric Apple Theatre Group, led by Carol Broadley (Chair) and Nicola Broadley (Producer/Director).
Since 2013, Elektric Apple has delivered inclusive theatre opportunities for individuals with learning disabilities and additional needs. Liverpool Heartbeat’s support includes:

A key highlight of this partnership is the annual presentation of the Brenda Baynes Courage Award , recognising exceptional resilience and commitment among participants.

Builder Book / Builder Box Initiative (Ongoing Since 2021)
Liverpool Heartbeat continues its long-term support of the Builder Book initiative, led by Natalie Reeves Billing, providing educational resources to children receiving free school meals.
Key contributions include:

Ongoing support for the Builder Box programme
This initiative promotes literacy, aspiration, and access to inspirational stories for disadvantaged children.
