The Charity has adopted the Charity Commission’s own Constitution as per Model Constitution for a Charitable Unincorporated Association (Form GD3). 

The Charity was established by a small number of individuals in the UK who had contacts in Kenya, especially Bungoma & Busia Districts of Western Kenya. The inaugural meeting was on 30[th] March 2007. Trustees were chosen because of their particular skills and knowledge already shown in other employment or life settings. 

The Board of Trustees meets regularly, approximately every three months, throughout the year to receive reports on progress with Kenyan projects. The Treasurer makes an extended annual visit to our projects in Kenya. 

Accounts are also presented at all our meetings (real or virtual) where our expenditure and income are regularly monitored and Trustees make financial decisions after appropriate consideration including risk assessments.

We have had additional support and advice from a qualified<br>accountant.<br>3.<br>Funds raised:  see accounts<br>4.<br>We have supported 117 students for educational fees during 2023<br>5.<br>We have supported orphans & widows in their healthcare<br>6.<br>St Bakhita MHC has initiated a local committee to ensure the Community and<br>the local areas are being well served for all aspects of health care<br>7.<br>We have further developed our project to support and care for vulnerable<br>pregnant teenage girls and their babies – the Kangaroo Project<br>8.<br>Our Gift Aid scheme continues to grow and gives us a return from donations<br>9.<br>We have 142 sponsors who regularly donate money, the majority by standing<br>order and a further 73 supporters who assist in a variety of ways including the<br>100 club<br>10. WORK has provided reusable, washable Sanitary pads to over 2000 girls to<br>keep them in full time school.<br>11. A deep borehole has been installed at Namboboto Mission Health Centre for the<br>use of the local Community as well as the Health centre<br>12. A water outlet has been installed in Misikhu to provide clean water to the local<br>Community<br>13. WORK has provided new water tanks and rain collecting schemes in a local<br>secondary school<br>14. WORK has provided an Ultrasound for the Maternity unit at St Bakhita Mission<br>Health Centre<br>15. WORK has developed the land designated for future development at St Bakhita<br>MHC. It has been planted with crops for the Hospital Kitchen to provide<br>for patients<br>16. WORK financially supports a total of 131 widows. 3 new Widows groups have<br>been initiated<br>17. We are continuing to collect enough funds for a new Children’s ward at St<br>Bakhita MHC<br>18. An external auditor has undertaken an audit of Accounts.|
