Enrych Oxfordshire Chair of the Board of Trustees’ Report Period ending March 2022
With the pandemic crisis beginning to abate, the environment it has left in its wake is still a challenging one. Safety risks however have reduced with the introduction of vaccinations allowing us to once again help our members face to face.
Although our staff and volunteers along with our members had achieved so much online during the peak of the pandemic, it did not fully replace the nuances of face-to-face support.
That online support however has continued with some of the activities, and may well continue going forward as it enriches our support.
With the abatement of the pandemic, we have experienced a rise in referrals once again, with people looking for support due to isolation and loneliness resulting from their disabilities. This has been a challenge as we meet this increase with a finite number of volunteers and finances.
We continue to ensure positive outcomes for more than six hundred people, but we are seeing an increasing need for support around us and in the wider community. We continue to maintain a staff of three co-ordinators. Recruitment of volunteers has and continues to be a formidable task; we however continue to maintain a status quo.
We still meet the coming year in a viable financial position despite the need to utilise reserves in the previous year. Fundraising continues to be arduous within the current financial environment, alongside the increase in need.
The trustee board has met on a regular schedule to review progress and receive operational reports from the Co-ordinators. The board continues to look toward recruiting to bolster its numbers.
It has been and continues to be an arduous task to maintain the support to our members throughout the pandemic and now as it abates. The needs of the community in Oxfordshire have increased and we see this with an increase in both referrals and approaches from individuals.
Our aim is to support as many as we can, with the herculean effort of our staff and volunteers we have been able to, against the odds ensure a continuity of support through difficult times.
It is inspiring to see the altruism shown by our staff, and volunteers throughout this period.
