Charter which in tum give5 authority to the By Laws of the Association and The Policy. Organisation
and rules of The Scout As$o¢iation
The Group is a ITUSt. established under its rules which are common to all Scout Groups. Thè formal
governing document Is the constitution adopted 14 June 2007.

The Trustees are appointèa In 8c¢ordance with the Policy, Organi$ation and Rules of The Scout
Association.
The Group is mana9ed by the Group Board of TTUStee8, the membfyrs of which are the 'Charity
Trustees, of the Scout Group which 18 an èducational charity As charity trust•85, they are responsible
for Gomplying with legislation applicable lo charitie5. This includes the registr•tion, keeping proper
aGGounls and making returns lo the Chanly Commission as appropriate

exposed, these have bthn rojviewed and systems have bgen established to mitigate against them.
The main areas of concem th4t have beon Idenlifi&d are..
Damag8 lolloss of equipmonl. Equipment Is mostly stored at the Church H811 and the Guide Hut on
Holly Lane. The Group h41 lufficienl insur•nce in pla¢e to mitigate against permanent loss.
Injury to leaders, helper6. SUPPOrters and members. The Group, through the copit81ion fees,
¢ontribut&s lo the Scout Association's national accident insurance policy A s•parale policy is held to
cover parent helpers Ri8k As8es8menls are undertaken before 811 activities
Reduced income from fund rgising The Group is primarily reliant upon income from subscriptions
and fundraising. The Group does hold a reservs lo ensure the conlinuily of aetivities should there be
a major reduction in income The Committee rould raise the value of Subscriptions lo Incregse the
ncome to the group on an ongoing basis, either temporarily or pèrmanently.
Reduction or loss of ￿01)erS The Group Is totally reliant upon volunteers to run and administer the
activities of the Group If there was a reduction in the number of leaders to an Ljnacceplable level in a
particular section or the Group a8 a whole then there would havè to be a contraction. consolidation or

Th8 objectives of th8 GTOUP ar8 as o unit of The Scout Association. The aim of The Scout
Association is lo promote tho dèvelopment of young people ln achieving their full physical,
inlelleclual, social and spiritual potential as Individuals, as responsible citizen5 and members of their
local, national and International communitie8 The method of aohieving the Aim of thg Association is
by prOVid￿n9 an enjoyable and attra¢tive scheme of progressive training, ba8e¢ on the Scout Promise
and Law and guided by aduh leadership

Under the Chanlies Act 2011. tharitios must demonstrate that their purp06e8 8re for the public
benefit. Key features of public benefit include an identifiable benefit, the bén•lit must be to the public
or 8 section of the public gnd people on low Incomes must be able lo benefit The trustees have

ACHIEVEMENTS AMO PERFORMANCE
Tho Group
This year the Group has continL¢8d lo anabl• some 120 young p8ople lo enjoy the benefits
of 8 wide range of Seouting activities.
The Group has has b•en ablé to expand thii year with the Introduction of a new Squirrel section
which is a new section opèn for ¢hildr6n ag•d 4 to 6. This takes the nLJmber of sections now up to 7.
MerGury Beavers and Saturn Cubs meet on ty Tuesday evening, Tethys Scout iroop gnd Jupiter Cubs
I th9 new pack) on a W•dn•8day whilst Mars Beavers and Titan Scouts meet on a Friday evening
Arcturus Squirrels I the new Dr8yI meet on a Friday night. All of the s&ctions continuo lo meet in th6
M&thodi8t Church Hall
Our leadership team hai *tay8d réasonably $tabl& this year and wè have also welcomed Some naw
adults. All the leaders iuogle their busy life with Scoub'ng so that we can conlinLJe lo operate 8s one
of the most successful group• In the County

All sections have Continued to attach groo1 Importance to earning badges. and the desire for learning
and devèlopment r8mains Strong Wè continue lo follow the new badge sGheme, whgre therè is an
emphasis throughout the sedions on adventure outdoors, our place in our world and developing OUT

FINANCIAL REVIEW
Net poymenls for the year amounted to £37912023.. net receipts of £3,665), wth cash reserves at the end
of the financial year stsnding al £24.10612023.. £24,485>. With th6 addition of a new Squiryels pack,
subscriptiot)s income In¢rgas•d to £13.080 In the year and duo to the inGreased number of member5,
capitalion also increas6d to £7,521 The Squirrals. Beavers, Cubs and Scouts groups wère very active in
the year running various camps, hikes and other aclivilies. A further £9,700 was raised in deposits for a
Scouts trip to Switzerland In Summef 2024 Outgoings during the year ralating to this trip was £3,742 £450
was rgised in donations •nd £2,112 from Gift Aid.
Re8grvo8 Policy
The Group's policy on reserves is lo hold suff1cienl resources lo continue the charitable activities of the
Group should income and fundraising activities fall short. The Group Board of Truste8s considers that Ihg
Group should hold a sum equivalent to six months running costs, circa £4,000 No transfers were made to
or from the reserves during the y8ar endod 31 March 2024.
Inve8tmènt Pollcy
The Group doe$ not have sufficient funds lo consider investment in longer-lem inveslmenls. The Group
has therefor8 adopted a ri8k averse stratégy to the investment of its funds. All funds are held in cash
using only mainstream bjnks or building societies.
