The trustees present their report with the financial statements of the charity for the year
ended 31st March 2023.
OBJECTIVES AND AcnvmES
The objects of the charity as set out in its constitution are:
I to relieve persons suffering injury or illness residin8 in Knutsford, Mobberley and the
surrounding area {herein after to be called the area of benefft). by provision of emergency
medical care.
2 to preserve and protect health by arranging and supporting emergenry lffe support (els}
training free of charge to the general public within the area of benefit.
Achlevements and Perfornwnce
After two years of the Covid 19 pandemic restricting artivities of the trust, we were able to
resume most activities this year.
Nine Heartstart courses were held during the year, with 109 attendees. Attendance levels are
much lower than were the norni pr*pandemic, despite the production of new marketing
materials and the use of social media outlets.
Two screening days were organised by the Trust and held in assooation with the charty
Cardiac Risk In the Young. 198 people were screened which resulted in five referrals for
further investigation.
We now have a total of 40 AEDS, with six added in the year. We continue with 5 volunteers to
make monthly checks on all our AED'S, advising The Qrcuit monthly and changing batteries &
pads as and when needed.
KCFRT continues to operate a first response ser¥ice, although the team of First Responders
is now down to only three active members.
Public Benefft
In accordance with their objectives for this year. and with due regard to the published
Charity Commission guidance on the operation of the Public Benefit requirements of the
Charities Art 2006. the trustees have undertaken appropriate activities in furtherance of
these aims forthe public benefrt.

FINANaAL REVIEW
With the increase in activities there has been a corresponding increase in both income and
expenditure. Total funds held atthe yearend in bank balances amountedto £62,113 of which
£20,966 is designated for future cardiac screening Èvents. Receipts and payments in the year
are shown on page 7.
Major sources of income came from the Delarne￿ Foundation. Booths, sponsorship,
donations via CAF. Bev Devere3u￿S various fundraising events and of course Terrfs amazing
recycling activitiesl
RESERVES POUCY
KCFRT has not yet adopted a formal reserves policy.

Governing Document
The charity is unincorporated and governed by its constitution adopted 4 January 2006 and
amended 14 May 2007 and 21 May 2018.
HOW DOES THE CHARITY OPERATE?
The Knutsford Community First Responder Trust acts as an umbrella for four initiatives.
First Responders: a group of volunteers who are trained by and work with the North
West Ambulance Service. Their aim is to preserve life and promote recovery in an
emergency before the ambulance arrives. The team works in conjunction with the
ambulance service to provide a rapid response to emergency situations. When a
member of the public dials for an ambulance in the Knutsford area, the Duty First
Responder is also advised of the call and is asked to attend.
Deflbrillators: an initiative to provide and manage the upkeep of Community Public
Accessible Defibrillators ICPADs} and Automatic External Defibrillators IAEDS) in and
around the Knutsford area.
Heartstart: the aim of which is to teach Emergency Life Support Skills, free of charge,
to as many members of the public who would like to learn.
Cardlac Screening= offering cardiac screening to the young people of Knutsford in
association with the charity Cardiac Risk in the Young (CRY}. Cardiac screening involves
providing ECGS and Echocardiograms to young people between the a8e5 of 14 & 35.

Each initiative has a member of the KCFRT committee nominated as the "Lead. person
responsible for organising and reporting on the actwities undertaken to supportthe inttiative.
These leads. plus the Treasurer form the executive committee.
Executive committee meetin85 normally take place 3 times per year, with an additional
Annual General Meeting.
Risk Assessment
The Trustees have carried out a detailed review of the charity's activities and produced a
comprehensive plan setting out the risks to which it was exposed. A strategy has been
implemented to establish systems and procedures to mitigate those risks identified. These
will be reviewed annually.

I report to the charity trustees on my examination of the accounts of the charity for the year
ended 31" March 2023.
Responsibilities and basis of report
As the charity'strustees YOU are responsible forthe preparation of the accounts in accordance
with the requirements of the Chartiies Act 2011 { the ACVI.
I report in respect of my examination of the charivs accounts carried out under section 145
of the Att and in carrying out my examination I have followed all the applicable Dirertions
given by the Charty Commission under section 145(5}(b) of the Act.
Independent examiner's statement
I have completed my examination. I confirm that no matters have come to my attention in
connection with the examination giving me cause to believe:
(l) accounting records were not kept in respect of the charty as required by Settion
130 of the Act; or
(2) the accounts do not accord with those records.
I have no concerns and have come across no other matters in connection with the
examination to which attention should be drawn in this report in order to enable a proper
understanding of the accounts to be reached.

Basis of preparation
These accounts have been prepared on the Receipts and Payments basis in
accordance with the Charities Act 2011.
Fund Accounting
Unrestricted funds are those that can be expended atthe discretion of thetrustees
in the furtherance of the objects of the charity
Taxation
The charity is not liable to tax on its charitable activities.
The charity is not registered for VAT. Irrecoverable VAT is included in the expense
to which it relates.
Transactions with trustees
No remuneration nor expenses were paid to trustees or any persons connected
with them duringthe period.
