I to the financial stalements and comply with the Charily's goveming document. the Companies Act
2006, FRS 102 'The Financial Reporting Standard opplicable in the UK and Republic of Ireland" and the
Chorities SORP "Accounting and Reporting by Charities: Statement of Recommended Practice applicable
lo chorities preparing their accounts in accordance with Ihe Financial Reporting Standard applicable in
the UK ond Republic of Ireland IFRS 1021"
Objectlves and aclfvltles
The ACLT ￿ dedicated to raising the awareness of the 5hortoge of Black, Asian, Mixed Race and Minority
Ethnic IBAMEI donors on Ihe UK Stem Cell (Bone Marrowl, Blood and Organ registers. recruits potentlal
donors to come forword ol ACLT registration drives via cheek swabs or blood donation and is involved in
the process of offering hope and a healthy futvre to someone whose disorder/condilion may otherwise
prove falol. The likelihood of finding a motching donor is considerably greater if the patient and the
donor are from She same elhnic background. To relieve, counsel ond support persons. in particular those
from Minority Ethnic communities suffering with bone morrowlstem cell disorders such as leukaemia,
blood disorders such os sickle cell disorder and those in need of an organ tronsplant.
Our mission is to tockle the health inequalities in the BAME community by incre05ing the number of
lifesaving donors from this grovp. The ACLT 15 committed lo providing the most convenient, cvllurally
sensitive ond mosl friendly heollhcare ond wellbeing service to the BAME community in Ihe UK. The ACLT
aims to give BAME individuals diagnosed with bone ma￿ow/bI00d cancers the ability to hope. The
charity's ullimate aim is to accelerate the saving of more lives within the BAME community.
The trustees have poid due regard to guidonce issued by the Charity Commission in deciding what
activities the Charity should vndertake.

response to whal people in the BAME community have told us they need. This has resulled in Ihe
following:
Increosing the number of BAME individuals on the donor registers.
Provision ot support, comfort and hope to children, adults and families in need of lifesaving
donors.
Creoting a better underslonding of donation among BAME'5.
Improving community cohesion by bringing together people from differenl ethnic backgrounds
ond cultures under a common aspiralion to save lives.
Driving the issue of the lack of donors within the BAME commvnily up the political and social
ogenda.
On a cumulative basis raising the number of Black ond Ethnic Minority people on Ihe UK Slem Cell
(Bone Marrow) iegisfer from 550 to over 200.OCrt).
Helping save over 200 lives by finding matching Slem Cell (Bone Marrow) donors.
Register l.(K)O's of new blo¢)d and organ donors.
Orin Lewis is o founder member of the UK Stem Cell Slrolegic Forum and UK Stem Cell Strategy
Oversight Committee.
Orin Lewis 15 the Choir ol the National BAME Tronsplont Alliance INBTAI. the coordinating group for
Black, Asian, Mixed Race and Minority Elhnic Transplant donations. The NBTA is Ihe Secretariat of

achieve our goals.
On reflection our workload hos changed Ihe way thot we engoge with the public, which is lorgely
due to Ihe a￿aY of prqects. compaigns, digilol content, and patient appeals being created by
our team.
We have worked with various Haemotologists and Ktdney Transplant Consultanfs, efc. on various
projects and losks reloling to Blood Cancer. Blood Disordets (Sickle Cell) and deceased/fiving
orgon donation.
Thi5 hos helped to expond our reach and develop ovr roles in the clinicol worfd of haemotology.
tronsplantation 05 well as working alongside patients. donor5 and our stokeholder partners.
Regi51ralion drives. Education and training sessions to challenge and address social lab005, myths
and fears around bone maffow. blood and organ donation in place5 of worship. schools,
colleges. community centres and gatherings.
Working with portner organisations lo improve relolions ond trust within the BAME commvnity.
Undertaking 87 events where ACLT attended ond h05ted registration drives to roise oworeness
and funds. These events conlributed to the ACLT registering:

In the year to 31 July 2024 total income for the year omounted to £349,86312023: £460.1371. The charity
ended the year wilh o deficit of £35.49712023: surplus £106.0591 before charging depreciation of £12.305

noles 4. 5, 6 and 7. The total funds at 37 ju￿ 2024 were £499.37612023'. £547.1781.
The Trustees are endeavouring to buld up its financial donor base with a Mew to having reserves of up to
four months operating expenditure.

The trustees. who are also the directors of African Caribbeon Leukaemia Trusl for the pvrpose of company
law, are responsible for preparing the Trustees, Report and the financiol slotements in occordonce with
applicable law and Unlted Kingdom Accovnling Standords (United Kingdom Generally Accepted
Accounting Practice).
Company law requires the trustees lo prepare financial 51otements for each financial yeor which give a
true and fair view of the stote of offoirs of the Charily and of the incoming resources and applicotlon of
resources, including the income and expenditure, of the charitoble compony for Ihal year.
In preparing these flnoncial stotements, the Injstees are required to:
