This service is free to members. ``` ## `SBNS Global Initiative` ``` TheSBNSGlobalInitiative,withTheDianaandAlanKarterFund,hasdevelopedinternationalbursaries to sponsorneurosurgeonsfromLowandMiddleIncomeCountriestovisittheUKandsupportlocaltrainees to visit LMIC countries to gain experience. ``` ## `SBNS supported ST6 National Simulation Training Camp` ``` SpecialistTrainingyear6simulationtrainingon(whitefibre)dissectionofthebrainandstudyof relevant anatomy took place in April 2025. The funds for this was budgeted through 24-25. ``` ``` Page 2 ``` ``` THE SOCIETY OF BRITISH NEUROLOGICAL SURGEONS ``` ## **`Report of the Trustees`** ``` for the Year Ended 31 December 2024 ``` ## **`STRATEGIC REPORT`** ## **`Achievement and performance`** ## **`Charitable activities`** ``` TheSocietyofBritishNeurologicalSurgeonsundertakesawiderangeofactivitiesthataffect the neurosurgicalcommunityin general.The SBNS is involvedin research,standardsand deliveryof neurosurgery carein theGB& IRE.TheSBNScharityis focusedonthewell-beingofitsmembers,equality& diversity, and promotes a workplace free from bullying, with empowerment and equality in opportunity.' ``` ``` TheSociety'sconstitutionhasbeenupdatedduringtheAnnualGeneralMeetingSeptember2024 in Birmingham. ``` ## `Membership Activities:` ## `The SBNS council meeting and executive committee meetings.` ``` Fourmeetingswereheldthroughouttheyeartoformulate,reviewanddiscusspoliciesforneurosurgery in the United Kingdom,the implicationsof governmentpolicyproposals,issues aroundtrainingand the financial position of the society. ``` ``` TheSBNSsubcommitteesdeliberatedonthetopicsofResearch,NationalAudit,GlobalNeurosurgery and neurosurgical trainee matters. ``` ``` TheSBNSconferenceswereheldinEdinburgh(Spring2024),Birmingham(Autumn2024)andBelfastin the Springof2025.TheSBNSmembersandotherdelegatesattendedthesescientificconferencesto exchange knowledgeoncurrentneurosurgicalpractice.TheSBNSAGMwasheldduringtheautumnmeeting.The Sri Lanka society joined SBNS meeting as well as guests from the United States during the year. ``` ``` The SBNS held an away day council meeting in Preston 25/26th April. ``` ``` The SBNS councildiscussedthe role of physician'sassociatein surgicalhealth care, sexualharassmentat work place,participatedintheRCSworkforcecensusandconsideredthepossibilityofjoining parliamentary advisory council for transport safety. ``` ``` TheSBNShasrepresentativesinJCIE,JCST,SAC,CRGandvariousotherorganisationwherewearea stake holder. ``` ## `SBNS Equality and Diversity` ``` The Equalityand Diversitygroup exploredpracticesin the workspaceand within the charity.The findings have beendisseminated.The EDIreporthas nowbeensubmittedto the RCS and placedon the SBNSwebsite.
