The trustees who are also directors of the charity for the purposes of the Companies Act 2006, present their report with
the financial statements of the ehatity for the year endo4 31 July 2024. The tsvstees have adopted the provisions of
Accounting ond Reporting by Charities.. Stslement of Recommended Prnctice applicable to charities Prep￿illg their
accounts in accordance with the Fiuanciai Reporting Standard applicable in the UK and Republic of Ireland (FRS 102)
(cffective l January 2019).
Objecdves and Aedvldes
The Chaplaincy is an expression of the Churches, contribution to Higher Education and its support of the Chaplains
within the University of Bedfordshire. The Chaplains, putpose ￿ to fiffther that eommiknent to serve the Uuiversity of
Bedfordshire. and to engage with the University and its members in particujhr by offeTing to the University the riches
of the Christian faitlL
In furthering this objectiv4 the Chaplaincy recognises and tejoic¢s in the multi-faith and multicultural naiure of tbe
University and pledges to work in partnership with people of all faiths and non

Cl)ristian religion. the promotion of religious harniony. and fostering Cowoperdtion. joint working and ￿ater efficiet
amongst i(s members. We believe that the Christian faith is of benefit to individuals and society because it has. at its
hearL God's intent to reconcile all people and the whole of creation to Himself under Christ as head This 1$ a vision
which encompasses peace and cohesion, rnulual respect and self-giving love.
Slgnlflrant aetivlties
This past year h&s seen the work of Mrs Helen Burgess. the Lead Chaplain. develo￿ and a]so the appoiniment of a new
Deputy Chaplain to the Team to begin in August 2024. The Deputy Lead Chaplain post ended in July 2024. Over the
past year the Lead Chaplain has continued to build her team of paid assistants and volun*ers on both campuses
Bedford and Luton. The Cbaplaincy Team Continues to establish good relationships with th¢ lo￿1 ¢hurches and other
faith communitie4 and to work closely with the Community & Faith team of the Univetsity.
In Autymn 2023 theff was a commissionin8 service for the Lead Chaplain led by the Bishop of Northampthn. which
was well supported by students and staff from the University, local churches and other faith communities. The
University Vicc Chancellor also attended. In July 2024, Peter W¢st, thc fonner Chair of UBEcf, was awarded an
Honordry Fellowship of the Univetsity in recognition of his work with UBEcf and his contnbution to cbaplaincy
Th¢ chaplaincy continues to providc day-t￿daY pastoral support for students and members of staff of the University
together With opportunitie5 for prayer and friendship in the Treehow8e facilities on both (￿npuSe5. Other activities
including the annual Carol service have also demonstrated the outreach and recognition of the work of the chaplaincy.
The Chaplaincy is also awdilable to be consulted on relevant issues relating to faith.
Public benefit
In compiling this repo¢ the TNstees have given due regard to the public benefit guidance issued by the ChaTity
Commission. The thjstecs consider that the range of activitie5 detailed iTh this report fi]lfill these requirements in that
they benefit llll members of the University community.

Having satisfied myself that thc accounts of the Company are not required to be audited under Part 16 of the 2006 Act
and are eligible for independent examination. I report in respect of my examination of your clwitys accounts as carried
out under Section 145 of the Chariti¢s Act 2011 ('the 2011 Ace). In carying out my examination I have followed the
