# **Trustees Annual Report — Year Ending 30th September 2024** ## **Object of the Charity** The objects of the Church are for the benefit of the public locally, nationally and across the world: A) To advance the Christian faith by proclaiming Jesus Christ and teaching the principles and ways of God according to the Holy Bible (The Word of God) B) To relieve sickness and financial hardship and to promote and preserve good health by the provision of funds, goods or services of any kind including through the provision of counselling, support & prayer; and C) To advance education for children, young people, adults, the elderly and for people with disabilities. ## **Principle Address:** 10, Southern Court Newport Industrial Estate Launceston Cornwall PL15 8EX ## **Accountant:** Sian Courtney FMAAT 3, The Rowans, Bude EX23 8PS Charity No. 1119195 The Church trustees are pleased to present their annual report and accounts for the year ending September 2024. Launceston Community Church is a registered charity no. 1119195. ## **Worship and Community Activities** In addition to our Sunday morning worship and Sunday school, we have seen consistent growth not only in Church membership but across our weekly programmes and groups. We were delighted to baptise two men last May and welcome new families into the Church during the year. Family Fun Mornings during the school holidays, Growbaby on Monday mornings, and Community Open Space on Thursdays continue to attract regular attendees and supported by the community around the Church. Adventurers After School Club remains a popular fixture on Tuesday afternoons during term time at Tresmeer Village Hall. We now have a third home group in addition to two others, along with a monthly ladies' morning group, ladies' breakfasts, and many social events throughout the year. Over the Christmas period, a Wreath Making Evening, Family Service and Carols by Candlelight Service were held and well attended. Throughout the year, we have made small alterations to the church, completing all necessary refurbishments including a new carpet throughout and new LED Lights. The Church remains an active member of Churches Together in Launceston. Since October, we have also welcomed a South West Youth Ministries (SWYM) intern who has been actively contributing to our ministry. Safeguarding Training was presented by our Safeguarding Co-ordinator during the year with 19 church members attending. ## **Community Action** Community Open Space has grown even more vibrant with the addition of Chat & Craft which has increased attendance and continues to provide free hot and cold light lunches, friendship and support on a weekly basis. Growbaby continues to serve families and new parents, not only in Launceston but also from the surrounding areas and Growbaby also held a successful School Uniform Swap and Christmas Toy give-away morning. Our support for Operation Christmas Child remains strong, with 36 shoeboxes collected and sent in November. Five church members contribute weekly to two local school assemblies through the Bible Society’s _Open The Book_ initiative. Additionally, eight members volunteer as Street and Prayer Pastors, either patrolling or praying for the town on Saturday nights. Several members of our congregation also volunteer or work with Oriel Ministries, which hosts various youth events and operates a youth bus. We are always delighted to open the Church in October for Carnival Night and serve the community with refreshments and facilities. ## **Missions at Home and Abroad** We continue to support missions both locally and globally, contributing a total of £7,761 in ministries and mission gifts and donations to church volunteers. Throughout the year, we welcomed numerous visiting missionaries and were able to offer one-off donations to support their work. In July 2024, we hosted a Compassion Sunday, raising awareness and support for children living in poverty worldwide. In December, one of our members, Tara Kinsey led by the Lord, left the church to go to Lesotho as a missionary to the high mountain region of the Country. ## **Finance** The majority of our Church income comes from the faithful giving of our members, primarily through offerings. We reclaim income tax through the Gift Aid scheme, ensuring that all income is applied to the purposes outlined in our trust's articles and instruments. This year, the majority of our finances were allocated to gifts, donations, and replenishing the bank account to maintain financial stability. We are committed to preserving sufficient reserves to maintain the building and its ongoing needs. Our Pastor remains bi-vocational and does not take a salary. Restricted Income has been received from Volunteer Cornwall towards the running costs of Community Open Space and Growbaby.
