Aedvltles And achlevements The Aurora Foundation for People Abused in Childhood Lirnited (AurorA) was conceived by Su8annah Faithful in 2006. incorporated as a company in October 2006 and r¢sred as a charity in England and Wales in May 2007. Durin8 this financial year Aurora was registered as a charity in Scotland {in July 2023). The Core Team at Aurora consisted of the Chief Executive Officer and a team of counsellorslpsychoth¢rapists. Aurora ScrviS werc dcliv¢red by s¢lf-cmployed tb¢rdpisVcounscllors and by counsellors in training. All Aurora Team members were DBS checked. Services ihroughout the year up to 31 March 2024 were delivered by 7 therapists supervised by two clinical supervisors. Aurora is an organisational member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP). This mean8 It work8 within the BACP Framcwork for Ethical Practice in Counselling and Psychotherapy, is subjcct to its ¢ornplaints procedure and meeLs IL rcquir¢d benchmarks for high quality services. STRUCTURE, GOVERNANCE AND MANAGEMENT Governing Document The charity is controlled by its governing documents, and constithtes a limited company, limiteAJ by guarantee, as defined by the Companies Act 2006. The Aurord Foundation for People Abused in Childhood (Aurora) was in¢oTporated &8 a company {limited by guarantee without thare capital) in October 2006. Tbe organisation was also registered as a ch8Jity in Engl8nd and Wales in May 2007 and as a charity in Scotland in July 2023. Aurora's governing do¢uments are the Memorandum and Articles of Association. The objects of Aurora are the provision of counselling and support to promote. pr¢serve and protect good physical and mentsl health for ll1t Mrvivors of physical. emotional, psychological. spirilual and 8cxual abuge. Governance and M4nagement The Trustees of ALtrora are norn]ally clcctcd for thr¢c years and may stand for rleCtion al the end of that period. They are all unpaid Voluntee and may claim reasonablc out of pocket expenses. No Tntee Llaimed any expenses during the period of this report. The Trustee5 are responsible for the governance of Aurora. They agree the strategic direction for the charity and its major areas of work and help to resolve competing demands which may be placed on the organisation.
