REPORT FOR THE YEAR ENDED 31 AUGUST 2024 The trustees, who are also directors of the charity for the purposes of the Companies Act, have pleasure in presenting their report and financial statements of the company for the year ended 31 August 2024. GOVERNING DOCUMENT Wakefield Trinity Community Trust is a company limited by guarantee governed by its Memorandum and Articles of Association dated 8th August 2006 and operates as Wakefiedl Trinity Community Foundation. It is registered as a charity with the Charity Commission. The company currently has five trustees. RECRUITMENT AND APPOINTMENT OF TRUSTEE BOARD The Company may from tim& to time by ordinary resoludon increase or decrease the number of trustees on the Board. Any member of the Board so appointed shall hold office only until the next following annual general meeting and shall be then eligible for reappointment. TRUSTEES INDUCTION AND TRAINING Each new trustee is given educational booklets.. "Directors & Secretaries guide" booklet GBA1 issued by Companies House educates trustees on the legal duties and responsibilities of Ihe company director under company law. "Charities & Fund raising" booklet CC20 issued by Charities Commission ensures trustees are aware of the legal duties and responsibilities under Charity law, ORGANISATIONAL STRUCTURE The Company currently has a Board of Trustees consisting of three members who set Company policy. In addition nominated persons implement Company policy on a day to day basls. The Trust has recently appointed a number of new trustees who along with existing irustees are already cornmiting considerable time, effort and skill to the g0veMan￿ of the organisation. RISK MANAGEMENT The Tmstees have a rlsk management strategy which comprises of an annual review of tha risks the Charity may face. OBJECTIVES AND ACTIVITIES Wakefield Trinity Community Foundation is the charitable arm of Super League's Wakefield Trinity Over the last 16 years, we have pledged our tlme and dedication to use the power of the Rugby League and physical activity to inspire our community. creats'ng lasting legacies for people within it. Wakefield Trinity has played an inlegral part in the life of the people of Wakefield and surrounding cornmunities since its formation in 1873. Sport has a unique ability to raise the spirits and unite different ages, gender, ethnicities and social economi¢ groups in a shared passion. The engagem&nt potential of Sport and of Wakefield Trinity provides opportunitles wlthin our communty to deliver posib've outcomes to people of all ages. The work of the charitable trust is focused around four key areas, namely Rugby League, Education, Youth Engagement and Heritage & Community Projects. The work of the trust occurs across the Wakefield Dlstrict and beyond focusing on all age ranges from 4 years old to 85 years old.

The challénge to the Trust is to build the financial position and genepte both restrlcted and unrestricted funds from as many sources as possible to deliver greater impact within the community. TRUSTEES, RESPONSIBILITIES IN RELATION TO THE FINANCIAL STATEMENTS Company law requires the Trustee Board to prepare financial statements for each financial year which give a true and fair view of the stsle of affairs of the ch8ritable company as at the balance sheet date and of its Incoming resources and application of resources, including Income and expenditure, for the financial year. In preparing those financial ststements, the trustee board should follow best practice and.. Select suitable accounting policies and then apply them consistently,. - Make judgements and estimates that are reasonable and prudent., and Prepare the financial statements on the going concern basls unless it is inappropriate to assume that the company will continue on that b8SIS. The Trustee Board Is responsible for maintaining proper 8ccounting records whlch dlsclose wrth reasonable accuracy at any tlme the financial position of the charitable company and to enable them to ensure that the financial statements comply with the Companies Act 2006. The Trustee Board is also responsible for safeguarding the assets of the charitable company and h6n¢e for taking reasonable steps for the prevention and detectlon of fraud and other irregularities. ACCOUNTING POLICIES The financial statements have been prepared under the historical cost oonventlon, and In accordance with the Statement of Recommended Practlce (SORP) Accounting and Reporting by Charities, published In October 2005, applicable accounllng standards and the Companies Act 2006, and in accordance wlth the Financial Reporting Standard for Smaller Entlties ( effective April 2008). Resources expended Resources expended are included In the Statement of Financial Activitles on an accruals basis. Inclusive of any VAT which cannot be recovered.
