Achievements and performance
The WA continues to manage the town website www.whitchurch.org.uk , Summary of the main which it has run since its launch in April 2010, and which continues to achievements of the charity grow. It is the only website for the town that encourages local during the year participation and is run by the community for the community. It provides visitors and newcomers to Whitchurch with a welcoming and informative resource. The Gill Nethercott Centre has re-opened and we have concentrated on bringing back hirers and users, while still offering a covid-aware environment. Our main focus this year has been to replace the retiring Centre Manager. After advertising and short-listing the interviews were carried out by the charity officers, an offer made and accepted. Our new manager started in February and an induction period and hand over from the previous manager was arranged. She has successfully completed her trial period and is making a valuable contribution to the centre. Tourist promotion The “Walkers are Welcome” (WaW) national town network is a community led scheme endorsed by the Ramblers Association and Visit England to help raise the profile of towns and parishes that have excellent walking opportunities but lack the high profile of the national parks and tourist hotspots. End of year report submitted and rated at Green in all sections (the highest level in a traffic light assessment system). We continued to act as a Walkers are Welcome mentor to our existing group and support another new applicant through the registration process. Whitchurch Wednesday Walks is now well established. Additional walk routes published on the town website have been invaluable assets to support exercise and mental well-being. We have liaised with the North Wessex Downs and Alton on their walking festivals. Socially distanced litter picking has been taking place around town by WaW volunteers, the Scouts and individual residents. The total for this year was119 sacks and 112 man hours, and accounted for 491 hours 35 minutes of our total. Local joint working We continue to work with Whitchurch Town Council and Hampshire Countryside providing input and advice on matters relating to local footpaths. We have also worked with the team reviewing the Tourism section of the Neighbourhood Plan, supporting the development of a set of themed local walks. The WA and WaW have worked closely with the Whitchurch Conservation Group (WCG) this year. The group have secured £54,907.80 which includes £5k match funding from WCG and £5k match funding from Basingstoke and Deane Borough Council (BDBC). The grant will fund the following…… a) Installation of a new bridge between Town Mill Lane and Pound Meadow b) Newly designed and installed Mill Trail Interpretation Boards c) New Mill Trail leaflets d) Mill Trail Audio Trail

Well-being of the town’s inhabitants
Whitchurch continues to be represented on the Sport and Physical Activity Alliance (SPAA) in Basingstoke by one of the trustees.
We have restarted our defibrillator and CPR awareness training for the town and its surrounding areas and groups, which have been well attended, and we are investigating carrying out training for other awareness type activities – for example paediatric first aid.
Complementing and running alongside existing baby and parent exercise/music classes a regular café for parents and babies has been established. This has ensured that new parents can socialise with others in the same situation, working to combat social isolation and boosting mental well-being. It has also helped young children to socialise, counteracting the effects of Covid lock down.
The Gill Nethercott Centre continues to provide a range of leisure, health and community activities that promote the well-being of all age ranges for the whole community.
