In the past twelve months we have seen a rise in the demand for our services , especially for families struggling with their children mental health , not being able to access the rights service sat the right time ort the children being to young g for a specific services or have not met the criteria this a left hundreds of families still fighting for support the effect this as on the whole family unit can be deviation .
This is why we as a charity have stepped in with emotional support wellbeing support and supported the families getting services for the children and them, alongside bringing the families concerns to the attention of CCG Council and other major health bodies concerned.
We are planning a conference to address all the above issues and to invite speakers from the services that are available to disabled children and their families to bring a working partnership that will filter down to the whole community.
In the past twelve months we have helped 326 disabled individuals apply for benefits and are pleased to say we have had a 99% success rate; this has made a massive difference finally and mentally for these families as many found it impossible to fill out the form themselves or how challenge a decision.
In the past twelve months we have supported over 400 families of a disabled child that we work with on a regularly basis , and have supported just over 100 new families that asked for our support , we have also received more referrals than every before and are now working in partnership with social services early help hub health visitors the Fact team job centre plus others .
We now have 1,882 families following us on face book, we have managed to access funding for a social media and information officer, to enable us to reach even more families and ensure they are accessing information that is up to date and correct.
We have provided food clothes bedding Toys Disability equipment holiday funding school uniforms referral to food banks and food pantries to 314 families in the last year and supported families in dealing with fuel and food poverty as more families are finding it hard to make ends meet.
We launched a Xmas toy appeal this year with the support of Dunelm Trinity walk Community give box ridings shopping centre Morrisons Dewsbury road and support for the community.
Through this we provided over 500 gifts to local disabled children and their siblings, and this ensured that disabled children we supported had a gift at Xmas as a charity we will be forever grateful to everyone that helped us.
As a charity we were also able to give food parcels to the families most in need thanks to Morrisons junction 41 and local supermarkets letting us fund raise
We have supported many families around education debt special needs rehousing fuel poverty mental benefits, death domestic violence homelessness plus other issues regarding disability and daily living issues
Through the funding from HAF we were able to deliver educational activities such as, Cinema activities, Pantomime craft sessions pottery sessions and support new families that came through HAF themselves.
We have delivered many free workshops on different topics around equality and diversity and tailored these workshops to the needs of the families we support, we are and received excellent fed back and are in the process of planning.
We are pleased to say that we have also attended several courses this year to help us support families better, these included First aid at work training Children mental health Counselling concepts, Autism awareness plus others.
