OperAfing during 2022-2023
With the release of the Dame Carol Black report more futids becotne avAilable for addiction treatinellt, to be
di%buFs¢d during the coming fivc year5. incliiding funding for residential lTe4t￿ent. The increased levels of
fullding bccame appareni almost immediately, with local authoriiies allowing incir&ses iji Ihe prices charged due
to the financial CTj515. an(1 Ihe in¢Teased tiumber of clients referred to Irea¢mellt. l-his year, as denion5trated
below, we had aTJ increase of 4Yo.
We hav¢ felt the effect of thc financial crisis. we had to restrict the temperature ofthe heatitig system to 19
degTees during the day, which is still I degree abovr that required for living. Despite lha¢ our bill for gas did
gjratly increase during the year as care homes Feceived no governtnenl siipport. We did 5ecuir a relatively good
deal on electricity for one year, however th￿S was only good in the facc of the price increases at the time and still
resiilted iii a large incred%e in costs. l.'ood bills also increa%¢d extensively.

We have had rnore as515ted withdrawal clients. and this has helped increase bu8iness and helped those clients
who ¢annot affoi'd to go to a dctoxification ccntre. We did in¢rease the prtce to cover usit]g extra staff whilst
people w¢r¢ deioxing.
During this yeaT we have installed mOiE computer packages to incirase e￿ICi¢n¢y. We have a medication
system, a caie plan syslein. a Iiew staff welf41'e package and as of the year eiid we are beginning to iinplem¢i)t a
new FIR package and an updated accoiints package. We also hav¢ access to Avensiire for IIK Tnatters and QCS
for onlin¢ policies. The%e changcs will continiie to bed in diiTTng the coming year but overall this shoiild
improv¢ effi¢ien¢y, reduce paper and wastc costs. speed up communiuatitsn belween different part5 of the
organisation and hopefully free up extr8 time foi. staff to be willi clies]ts, rath¢r thali dealing with paper.
This comiiig year there are going lo be changes to the C.QC iIispection requtrcments, all managers have Teceived

person who initially knows nothing of our service. This is proving very stlf5sful as it is impossible to work

This year we had a total of 285 clients compared with 266 in the previous year. We provided 154 detoxes,
ineluding dual detoxes for coifjbined alcohol and drugs providing £156.550. up fiT)m £119,670 in the previous
year. Of this £65,224 wa5 paid ¢0 pre5GribinB services, this left a siii'p1115 of £91,326 for us.
Private Clients
Privatc clicnts vai'led from £750 10 £1,650 (mean average being £1.47, redu¢ed from last year, the miniinutn

tention and av¢iag¢ spend was greatly improved. The drop n)ay have several causes.. our website was offline
for 12 wccks as it was being renewed, the new funding money caTne online from the Dame Carol Black JEport

StAtutory Clients
This year we received clients from a total of 42 different lo¢al authorities, plus Transport for London and pi'ivate
clients. Of these. one lo¢al aiiihority paid £740,000 and one paid £820 however each only rcfcrrcd one client
during thc year. The vast rnajoTlty, 33, paid a weekly fcc of £850 with 7 paying around £910 per week.
Bursaj'y Bed8
This year we pl￿vided biirsaiy treatmeiit for tliree Client5 for 48 days, with one in a bursary bed at titne of
reporting. Thi5 in¢ludes one detox. We also provided a5SlStan¢e for far more for client5 who were only given
limited funding but by virtue of thc financial crisis and th¢ IA¢k of appropriate housing needed. This 5UPPOrt
provided fire care for approximately 350 days.

Although addiction is eminently treatable and long term recovcjy 15 achievable for anyone
wanting it, it jsll't easy and to begin with ¢an seem impossible.
