## **ANNUAL REPORT: Year ending 31 December 2020**
Over the last 12 months we have continued to be part of the Christian presence in Highbridge and Burnham along with the other churches in the town. We are members of “Burnham Churches Together”. We enjoy good relations with them and trust that this will continue to be the case. Steve Mason continues to lead the work, supported by his wife Sharon who is also devoted to the cause.
Our purpose, as always, is to spread the good news of Jesus Christ and to help the poor and marginalized in our area, as best as we are able.
For the first part of the year we were able to continue our normal activities until they were severely curtailed by “Covid” restrictions. Our Arts Cafe, breakfasts, tea parties and Carols by Candlelight have all had to be cancelled for the remainder of the year. Since March we have met weekly via “Zoom” which has enabled us to keep the core membership engaged with us but regret that digital media does not appeal to all. Even through these difficult times, a number of our members have continued to support us financially. We have not resorted to furloughing staff.
This year we have teamed up with “Grace Advocacy”, a charity that provides debt counselling and support to people accessing benefits to which they are entitled. Several of our volunteers regularly give up their time to help complete the necessary paperwork so that people can get the financial support that they need to live.
Within our funds we have some £5,000 earmarked towards the purchase of a building. These are the proceeds of an appeal some years ago which fell far short of the target and the Trustees at the time felt that it was clearly not right to pursue it any further. This money remains earmarked for that purpose only, until the time is right for it to be spent in that way.
We look forward to continuing to serve Burnham and Highbridge and the wider community as restrictions are eased.
