THE RUSSIAN ORTHODOX CHURCH OF THE INTERCESSION OF THE HOLY VIRGIN 64 Clarence Road, Manchester M13 0YE Registered Charity no. 1118331

TRUSTEES ANNUAL REPORT

YEAR ENDING 13.09.2025

The past twelve months have been busy and rewarding ones for our parish. The Divine Liturgy has been celebrated on most Sundays and most major feasts, and this year we have also started serving Vespers on Saturday evenings. Attendance has grown steadily throughout the year: we have welcomed new parishioners, celebrated a rising number of baptisms, and watched more volunteers step forward to help with every aspect of parish life.

Among those who have found a home with us are refugees from Ukraine, who continue to seek support and refuge within our community. It remains a privilege to offer them practical help alongside peace, comfort, and a genuine sense of belonging.

A particular milestone this year was the successful completion of the parish kitchen refurbishment. The new kitchen allows us to cater for all our parishioners after the services, and it has already transformed our feasts, celebrations, and the weekly fellowship of sharing a meal together.

Our Sunday school, which gently introduces the younger generation to the Orthodox Christian faith, has gone from strength to strength. A newly purchased digital whiteboard has made lessons far more interactive for the children, while the installation of a microphone and speaker system means that participants can now hear the service taking place downstairs in the background, so worship is never far from their learning.

Pilgrimage remains a much-loved part of our common life. Once again we travelled across England and Wales in growing numbers, honouring British saints including Saint Seiriol of Penmon, Saint John of Beverley, and Saint Winifred.

Our mission is unchanged: to support those most in need. As in every year, we funded visits to the St Seraphim summer camps for children from low-income families, and we intend to widen this support in the years ahead.

None of this would be possible without our devoted and hard-working priest, whose care and commitment are felt by all, or without the generosity of our parishioners. It brings the trustees great joy to see the community gathering in ever greater numbers each Sunday in worship, faith, and fellowship.
