The accounts have b88n prepared in accordance with the accounling policies sat out in note 1 to the accounts and comply with the Charity's Memorandum and Arti¢le$ of Association, thè Companies Act 2006 and "Accounting and Reporting by Charities.. Statsment of Recommended Practice applicable to charities preparing their accounts in accordan¢% with the Financial Reporting Standard applicable in Ihe UK and R8public of Ireland (FRS 102}° (as amended for accounting periods CoMmen￿ng from 1 January 2016) Objaetivos and a¢tlvltlea The main function of the charity is to hire out the hall to local community groups and individuals on fair and reasonable commercial tamis. Any surplus is spent on improving the facilities both internally and ext8mally and sm811 grants are given to local community groups. Going forward, we intènd to help small local community groups to help young people with their lifé ambilions. The Trustees have paid due regard to guidanc8 issued by the Charity Commission in deciding what activities the Charty should undertake. A¢hlevomgnts and perfomiance St Edmunds Hall is still a very w611 us@d and thriving Community Hall. The hall continues to be used regularty by Church Groups for worship and midweek classes, Strollersize. Karate, Breath easy, Health clinics, various dance classes and ke6p fil Classes. We have the Sapphire TwiTlers who practi￿ and have been very successful in national compelitrons hiring for 2x three hour sessions a week. The ethos of the Trustee5 15 to keep hire as reasonable as possible to make it affordable for families in the community and for Ihose wanting to hold group sessions. As Trustees we again have not rais8d any charges being mindful of the very deprived catchment area that we seNe. Wa have (xntinued our support in the community providing extra catch up and 11 plus coaching for the local school. Childrens parties , b8by showers , multi cultural events tske pla￿ every weekend. The Trustees ensure the Hall 1$ kept to a high standard. It is succes$fiJl with the help of our 2 voluntsers living close to the hall, apart from claaners and gardener we have no paid stsff. The Trustees continue to support all our us8rs and provide a clean, well looked after facility for our wide range of users. We look forward to continuing to provide a community facility that is a thriving and really serves a need in quite a deprived ar8a of Southend. Finan¢lal revlew It is the policy of th8 Charity that unrestricted fijnds which have not been designated for a specific use should be maintained at a level equivalent to be￿een three and six month's expenditure. The Trust66s eonsider r&seNes at this level will ensur8 that, in the event of a significant drop in fvnding, they will be abla to continue the Charity's current activities while consideration is given to ways in which additional funds may be raised. This 18vel of reseNes has been maintained throughout the year. The Trustee$ have assessed tha major risks to which the Charity is exposed, and are satisfied that systems are in place to mitigate exposure to the major risks. Structure, govomanco and managoment The Charity is a company limitsd by guarantse and is a reglstered charity No. 1118103. Th8 companywas incorporated in 2006 and ente￿d into a thity yaar lease with Southend-on-sèa Borough Council in order to continue to provide hall services to the local community- Typical activities include dancing, bowls. karate, parties and meetings.

The Trustees remain committed to supporting all our users and will continue to play our part to help small groups that are helping others in our cornmunity. The Board of Directors (Trustees) meet on a regular basis to ensure the efficient running of the St Edmund5 Gommunity Association, to determine company policy, ensure good governance, managing risk and strict control of ts resour￿5 and that il complies with all or any relevant law appertaining tD the United Kingdom. All the TTUStees are familiar with the worf< of the Charty and their various professional backgrounds and experience provide the charity wth tha nec£ssary 5ki115 to run a suc￿Ssful enterprise for the benefit of the local community- The Trea8urer is responsible for the day lo day managemgnt of the finances and reports directly to th8 Chaimian. St Edmunds Community Association are members of the Soulhend Association of Voluntary Services (SAVSI. The Trustees. who are also th8 directors for the purpose of company law, and who served during the year and up to the date of signatur8 of the financial stslements were: Mr D Turpin Mr J Hartand Mr8 S J Carr Recrultrnent and appointmont of trusts•$ If St Edmunds CommLtnity Association Ltd identifies the need for new trustees. This may be because vacancies have arisen through resignations, or it may be that existing trustees have decided that one or more new trustees with specsfic skills are needed to help run the charity more effectively. The trustees agree what skills, experience and knowledge are needed, and write il down in the fomi of a short job desuiption and person specification. The trustees agree responsibilities and a prO￿sS for recruitinent-, in doing this, they lake care to comply with any specific ￿quireMentS set out in the tharity's governing document. Some of the work may be delegated to a sut group of trustees, bul the whole trustee board remains in full control of the process and decisions. The trustees consider the best methods of attiacting a diverse range of candidates with the skills the chartty needs. This may include advertising in the local andlor specialist press. Short-listing and interviews take place against agreed criteria. Interviews are carried out by a small panel of trustees, and each candidate is asked similar questions to ensure a fair and objective approach. Notes are kept of each inletview. Preferred candidates are identified and invited lo join the trustees, Subject to rèfèrenc8s, formal vettin9 and approval by the full trustee board. Unsuc￿SsfUl candidates are notified and thanked for their int8rest. The trustees check that the candidates have not b8en disqualified from acting as trustees, and candidates are asked to confimi in writing that this is th8 case.

The Chair of the charity writes lo the prospective bvstses. setting out their duties and the charity's expectats-ons of them", they are asked to sign and return a copy of the letter. An infomation pack about the charity is sent to new trustees. and a full induction process is arranged. New Irustees meet existing trustees and others involved with the charity, such as members of staff, volunteers and beneficiaries. The new trustees attend their first board meeting and are duly welcomed. All relevant parties. are notified of the new appointrnents. In particular, we pay attention to Health and Safety issuès and ensure that hirers adherè to our tenns and condition5 of hire. ￿ continue to pay particular attention to hygiene and govemment guidelines regarding COVID-19. Latest Developments The company's web51te continues to work well and ha9 become a very useful facility especialty for thos6 wishing to book. We a￿ also now proud sponsors of a local football team for boys under 11. Statsmont of Trusteeg. Re8ponslbilitie$ The Trustees consider the company to be a viable enterprise wtth sufficient reSoUr￿S to meet its aims and objectives. The improvements to th8 Hall and ils surroundings over the years are dearly wsible whith the Chaimian hopes will help make a positive contribution to enhancing th8 local street scene. The Trustees are responsible for preparing the Report of the Trustees and financial statements in accordance with the law and the United Kingdom Accounling Standards. As far as the Twstees are aware, all relevant accounts infonnation has been d8clared to the independent examiner.
