## **Trustees Report on Activities for 2021/22.**

The 2021/2022 year has proved another challenging one with the ongoing Covid restrictions but I am pleased to report that Ryedale Dog Rescue has continued to make excellent progress over the past 12 months. Our dedicated volunteers have had to adapt our usual fundraising events to keep in line with Covid guidelines and this has proved challenging on many levels but the team has pulled together and due to their continued dedication and hard work the charity is in a healthy and secure financial position.

We continue to raise funds in numerous ways, from on line events during restrictions, to holding in person events such as fun dog shows, stalls, quizzes, bingo nights and our annual auction of items and promises when restrictions were lifted. This year has also seen members of public run their own fundraising events, sponsored walks and bike rides in aid of RDR and to these we are continually grateful. Generous donations from The Rose Animal Trust have also not only benefitted the dogs in our care but also allowed us to purchase promotions equipment and goods to help with fundraising and to secure a storage facility after the loss of our previous building. The dogs continue to be looked after in private boarding kennels and have the ongoing support of the dedicated team at Ryedale Vets.

The accounts at the end of the financial year show a healthy balance of £93,850 to carry forward with income being £70,634 and expenditure £46,974. However, with the current financial climate we are seeing an increase in dogs needing our help and we must be prepared to step in when needed to offer a safe haven to those dogs who find themselves in difficult circumstances through no fault of their own.

On behalf of my fellow trustees I would like to thanks everyone who has supported the charity throughout the year whether it be as a committee member, fundraiser, sponsor or donator and who has given their time, knowledge and advice as without them all the charity would not be able to continue its valuable work.

I look forward to watching the charity grow over the next financial year and for it to be able to help as many dogs in need as is possible.

Rosie Stephenson , Chairman, Ryedale Dog Rescue , June 2022

## **RYEDALE DOG RESCUE**

## **Independent Examiners Report to the trustees for the year ended 31st March 2022.**

I report on the accounts of Ryedale Dog Rescue for the year ended 31st March 2022 as set out on pages 3 to 5.

## **Respective responsibilities of trustees and examiner**

The charity's trustees are responsible for the preparation of the accounts. The charity's trustees consider that an audit is not required for this year under section 144 (2) of the Charities Act 2011 (the "2011 Act") and that an independent examination is needed.

It is my responsibility to:

- examine the accounts under section 145 of the 2011 Act

- to follow the procedures laid down in the general directions given by the Charity Commission (under section 145(5)(b) of the 2011 Act), and

- to state whether particular matters have come to my attention.

## **Basis of independent examiner's report**

My examination was carried out in accordance with the general directions given by the Charity Commission. An examination includes a review of the accounting records kept by the charity and a comparison of the accounts presented with those records. It also includes consideration of any unusual items or disclosures in the accounts, and seeking explanations from the trustees concerning any such matters. The procedures undertaken do not provide all the evidence that would be required in an audit, and consequently no opinion is given as to whether the accounts present a 'true and fair' view and the report is limited to those matters set out in the statement below.

## **Independent examiner's statement**

In connection with my examination, no matter has come to my attention

- 1) which gives me reasonable cause to believe that in any material respect, the requirements;

   - to keep accounting records in accordance with section 130 of the 2011 Act; and

   - to prepare accounts which accord with the accounting records and comply with the accounting requirements of the 2011 Act

have not been met; or

- 2) to which, in my opinion, attention should be drawn in order to enable a proper understanding of the accounts to be reached.
