Trustees Annual Report for the year ended 31 December 2022 The trustees present their annual rewrt and financial ststement for the year ended 31 December 2022. The financial ststements have been prepared on a cash basis. Structure. Governance and Management The Streetlight Twst was established on 4 February 26 under a twst deed. The charity is constituted as a Trust The trust is managed by the trustees. There are no stsff employed by the Trust. The trust deed provides for a Minimum of three trustee& There were seven Trustees at the end of the year. New trustees are apwinted by the existing Trustees. All new Trustees are appointed for an initial term of three years. During the year. Andrew Barton was reappointed as a Tnjstee. At trustees, meetings, the strategy for Streedight is agreed. finances and fundraising are reviewed, along with the achievements being made with the funds provided to Kanlungan. During 2022, two Trustee meeting were held, of which one was face to face. The Trustees dealt with other matters wa e-mail. In fijture the Trustees expect to continue holding one face to fa meeting a year and conduct the rest of its meetings via Zoom in order to reduce our carbon ftprint Objectlves and activities for the Public Benefft The objects of the Streetlight Trust as set out in its twst deed are "to improve the lives of the poorest and most vulnerable thildren and their families in the Philippines by making grants of money available to non-governmental organisations {NGO's) operating wsth a Christian ethos.- The Trustees have paid due regard to the Charity Commission's guidance on public benefit in deciding what artivities the charity should undertake. Achi•vements and performance Coronavirus made huge demands on Kanlungan Sa ERMA the NGO that Streetlight supports in the Philippines, throughout 2021 Lockdown restrictions were draconian and meant that the children in the residential centres run by Kanlungan were not allowed out for over two year& Education was badly disrupted although stsff did their best to help the children with their online education. Street families continued to find life very tough. Kanlungan responded by carying on its feeding programme, including community pantries in the latter part of the year. 21Page
One of the sad realities of the pandemic has been the explosive growth of online sexual exploitstion. It is likely that Kanlungan will need to develop activities to support children that have been affected. Kanlungan operates in the metro-manila area in the Philippines, and runs projects covering: street education and child protection for street children". day centres for street childn IFNing in urban slums where children can get an education and a meal.. a temporary shelter and short-term residential care centre for street children who need counselling and support long term residential care and training centres, one for girfs and one for EJ)ys; after care to reunite children with their families provide educational assistsnce and help the parents take care of the children,. social enterprises (a farm growing coffee in Cavite province, south of Manila) to provide employment opportunities for older boys. The grants made to Kanlungan are largely unrestricted to cover the core staffing costs of the organisation. as well as utilities and food for the children. The trustees ensure that the public benefit stated in the Trust's objects are being achieved in several ways. Normally, the prime means is from visits to see Kanlungan's projects in action. In May 2022 three of the Trustees were finally able to visiL The Trustees also kept in contact with Kanlungan via attendance at staff devotions, and regular online and telephone communication. The Chair of StreetlighL lan Herbert remains a member of the Board of Trustees at Kanlungan. The trustees are very conscious of the impart of climate change, especially on the world's poorest people, and now has a policy to carbon offset air travel. This is done by any travellers to the Philippines on Streetlight business maktng payments to Climate Stewards who support tree planting and other carbon mitigation projects in Uganda, Ghana and MeC0. The trustees are eXtrerne grateful to all Streetlighvs supporters. Thanks to modem technology we are able to bring our supporters into contact with the staff team at Kanlungan. In June 2022, we piloted a "wrtual tea- event which was appreciated by all who attended. Reserves Policy The Trust regularly reviews its reseNes policy. During the year. the reserves level was maintsined at £18,400 equal to two of the regular payments that are made every two months. The cash balance at year end was well above the minimum reserve at £33.835 split £33,575 in the Unrestricted Fund and £259 in the Restricted Fund. The Trust also held 208 Barclays shares at a market value of £330. The shares had been left to Streetlight as a legacy gift and were sold in January 2023. 31Page
Financial Review Detsi15 2022 was a challenging year for fijndraising. H¢xwever. the diverse range of Streetlighys fundraising helped the charity withstand the ups and downs of the year. inancial erf During the year, cash receipts totalled £63,679 (down 19% on 2021) and cash expenditure £74,177 (up 5% on 2021). rm As trustees, we have yet again been greatly encouraged by the remarkable generosity and commitment of our supporters. Thank you. Indlvldual Regular g¢ving totslled £18,592 {up 2% on 2021). The number of regular givers dropped by 2 to 44 during the year. Individual &ngle G(viry totalled £13.621 (down 44% on 2021). This stream of giwng does vary year on year because it is highly dependent on a small number of individuals who have been lon9-Standing supporters of StreetlighL We are 50 grateful to you. Giftaidof £11,270 was claimed during the year. a 28% increase on 2021. This refiects the high level of indiwdual single gifts in 2020. Fundrnising events and acbwties grew substsntially as the impact of Coronavirus lifted. For the first time since 2019, we were able to hold the Christmas Ball in Bletchley which was attended by well over 2C(J people. It was wonderfijl to meet old friends and welcome new people to hear about Streetlight for the first time. We were also gratefijl to St Michael and All Angels Eastboume for running a summer ball on Streetlight's behalf. Stride for Streetlight continued in 2022 with our Trustee, Mary Lane completing the Cumbria Way. Thanks to all those who sponsored Mary and walked with her. Thanks to you, Mary raised over £l,OCK) for StreetlighL Dirert fvncloI support from churches amounted to £8.088 (down 30% on 2021). Coronavirus probably had an impact here. During the year, five churches provided direct financial support five less than in 2021. We are grateful to all the churches for their financial and prayer supporL We did not receive any lega¢ygifts in 2027. Othergiving totslled £75 (a huge drop on the unusually high amount in 2021, almost entirely due to £5,971 being received from Dorcas Trust as the charity was wound down). 41Page

OF the totsl in 2022, £66.640 was from unrestricted funds and £420 from restricted funds. Streetlight maintained its regular giving of £55,2(K) to Kanlungan whKh is provided to support staff salaries, rents, food and utilities. Additional gifts were made, mainly to support Kanlungan staff costs. The costs of fvndraising events and artlvities went up to £4,928 with the restart of the Christmas Ball in Bletchley. We are grateful to the team at Wilton Hall for their supportive approach to staging the event Admlntstrotion costs of £688 covered costs of child protection and charges relating to the new website. All administration costs are covered by the Trustees, financial contribution& Travel costs of £1,5(X) were incurred by the Twst to enable three Trustees to visit Kanlungan.
