Trustees
The ti'ustees named on page J have served diiring the year. Appointiiient of trustees is govei'ned by the
Ti'ust Deed of tlie charity. The Board of TrLlStees is authorised to appoint new tl'ustees to fill vacancies
arising through resignation oi. death of an existing trustee.
Constitution, objects and policies
The objects of the Charity al'e to assist in:
(I) the relief of financial hardsliip ainong people falling withÉn the classes set out in sub clause (iv) of
tliis clause below by providing such pei'sons with goods oi. sei'vices which they could iiot otherwise
afford tlirough lack of means. (li) the I'elief of financial hardsliip, eithei. genei'ally or individually, among
people falling witliin the classes set out in sub clause (iv) of this clause below by making graiits or loans
of money for providing or paying for items sei'vices oi. facilities. (iii) to suppoi't charities established foi.
the benefit of police officers and police staff throughout the United Kingdom. (iv) the classes of people
who al'e to be beiieficiaries of the charity al'e: all serving i'egulai. police officei's. wives and families of
serving i'egular police officers; all irtired regular police officers in receipt of a pension from the police
service; wives and families of retii'ed I'egulai. police officers in receipt of a pension from the police
sei'vice; widows and children in full tiine education of deceased regular police officeis. all sei'ving
special constabulary officers. wives and families of sei'ving special constabulary officers. all retii'ed
iegular special coiistabulary officers. wives and families of retired special constabulary officers. widows
and childi'en iii full time education of deceased special constabulary officeis. all serving police staff.
wives and families of serving police staff. all retired police staff membei's in i'eceipt of a pension from
the police service. wives and families of i'etii-ed police staff in L'eceipt of a pension from the police
service. wives and children in full time education of deceased police staff membei's.
Stateinent of trustees, responsibilities
The trustees are i'equii'ed under the Chai'ities Act 1993 to prepare financial statements for each financial
yeai. which give a true and fail. view of the chai'ity's activities during the yeai. aiid of its financial position
at the end of the year. In pi'eparing those financial statements giving a true and fail. view, the trustees
should follow best pi'actice and:
(a) select suitable accounting policies and theii apply them consistently.
(b) make judgements and estimates that are reasonable and pi'udent.
(c) state whethei. applicable accouiitiiig standai'd and statements of recoinmended pi'actice have
beeii followed, subject to any departures disclosed and explained.
(d) pi'epare the financial stateinents on the going concerii basis unless it is inappi-opi'iate to
pi'esume that the chai'ity will continue in opei-ation.
