The Akfjhaya Patra FouThJatKsn UK conforms to the fUrnIarr￿ntal princlples of The
Akshaya Patra Foundattson In that ro child should be deprived of an education because
of hunger. Towards thls end, TAPF UK was set up to suppjrt the attivities of the
organisation in Indkl which seNes over 1.8 mlllkm children a freshly prepared, ￿t and
nutrrtious meal every ￿hCo1 day. Ath0￿h tIE or6et of COWD19 pandemic1&1 to
Icxk-down and schc4)I cb)sures, the F￿ndati￿ continued its activitles by provlding
meals, ration kits and Happiness &)xes to millions of benef￿larieS In trying
cIrcuMstan￿$. Millions of children have benefItt￿ from thls Sery1￿ and TAPF UK has
worked hard to ensure that these artivitles are supp)rted by means of a range of
activities. Furthermore during the calendar year 2020, TAPF UK made rapld
progress on Its Initlatlve to serve children, families and all those who were
struggled with food Insecurfty In the UK.

The Trustees are pkased to rewt that slgnifKant progress has teen made on all of these
Initiatives. The team has been strenfftned with investments in Sales Force sUPPOrt for Ct)nor
care arKI further additions to the rnarketir￿ aThJ fund raising team. An MOU was executed with
the UK bas&1 GMSP Foundation which hel[￿ us launch a brand new, stste of the art facility
In Watford, Greater LoThfjon. A fantastic partnership was also re*nforced with The Childhcoj
Trust. TAPF UK and GMSP both re￿1V8￿ outstandlng supptsrt and coverage in National aThJ
intemational medka Ind￿1r￿j broadcaster5 like BBC, rrv. SKY aThJ other nthor*s. TAPF UK was
also Select￿ by Sprott BUSI￿SS ￿h￿l, Cadeton Unfverslty in Canada for a researth paper on
ts path-breaking initiative5.

COVID19 clea￿1 unpre￿ented challenges for the tharity, its staff
and its activities. TAPF UK quickly PNOted to a ne¢1 approach for fund raislThJ, advccacy aThJ
fcK)d provision wlth an onlirE-first ftKdd. Investments were made into qulckly rnmping up the
digital infrastructure and all stsff were supkxyted with this tranSl￿n as we moved to a work
from home approach.
G￿en the challenges p)sed by the parKlemK, TAPF UK realised our support for the IThJla
programff* needed bolsteriThJ despite xlKxII chjsures whllst we also had to continue towards
building the kitchen In the UK. This twnt th had to c0nfrn￿ M ix*? fronts in on
acc*ratÉtl manner wIt/￿t anydilutlon.
The team, uslng online focussdl arKI dellvered on bulkllTrJ new partnershlps and
collaEorative activities. The tharlty was a ch)sen partner wlth London Borough of Harrow
working closely acr055 multiple initiative5. With ￿Me￿￿Ou5 supwrt from GMSP Foundation and
Its TrUst￿S, the kltchen In Wattord svas built a￿1 commissiongj on tiff*, despite the pandemlc
In October 2020, In tlme for ￿ Crtober half-term break and servoj thousands of meals to
chlldren and adults in the second half of the year. Tr charrty was visltsj by promlnent leaders
In the community, ￿presentativeS from the UK G)vemment as well as MPS from the UK
ParlianEnt. The kltchen was assessed on multipk parameters on Health and Safety
systems and the staff were fulty tralned on all pardnEtsrs cl Health and Fcod safety.
TAPF UK also managed to strike Important partnershlps with many thwls, communlty groups,
L￿1 Ed￿tIOn ALrthorSt5es LEAS and contlnu&l to served wlth speed and scale desplte the
chalienges of the pandemic. TAPF UK also ￿1Val h￿h satisfaction ratings on its f(￿1 seN
wlth repeat partnershlps.
TAPF UK recelved approvals from tIE Howe offi￿ to transfer employees from TAPF Indla. Alsa
TAPF UK was sdected to parkncipate In the Klckstarter ProJramme launched by the Chancellor
of the Exchequer In the UK whith meant we We￿ SUPFOrted In our artNities of developlThJ and
tralnlng young professlonals In the UK in the areas of MarketiThJ and Coror Care.
In addltlon, the T￿$t￿ Initiated and, with the PElp of Gibson Dunn, cornp￿ted a review of the
governan￿ Structu￿ of the charity and Introd￿￿￿ a number of new policie5 and procedures to
ensure best governance prdctte wlthln the charty .

outside of London. The Trustees are encourag&J to vI￿t OFeratior6 in India, the kitchen
where the meals are prepared and some of the which ￿Ne these rreals,

Initialty for a 3 year term. Besldes other dutles, they will be required to gwe their tlme to the

meetings each year and engage with the ￿0 aThJ ￿ team to strengthen and support in all

Future developments . The Charity wlll seek to grow its dorlx base aThJ to develop addithjnal
funding partnershlps. The Charity intends to Identify ajditiotpl fe&llng partners In the Greater
London area with a view to incr&￿Ing numter of meals seNed in the UK.
Fundralslng
The charity is committed to followlng the Code of Fu￿1raIS￿￿j Prattl￿. Durlng the year, the
charfty did not make use of any extemal consultants to undertake its fuTrJraising attlvities. No
data was shared wlth, or sok1 to, any exterrkil agencies. We did nct urbjertake unsolicited direct
mall shots, seThJ any Un￿lICited n￿Sletter5 ¢y approach any Vulnerab￿ indivlduals to support
our work. A complaints policy is in pla￿ but we re￿1V&1 no complaints during the year about
any of our fuTrJralsing activities.
