Summary ofthe main
achievements
ofthe charity
during the year
Manchester
Taoist Centre has gratefully
received donations
from the
public.
The increase
in delivery
ofcourses and training
achieved
the previous
year was maintained
to the most part. Relationships
with beneficiaries
and donors was seen as key to sustaining
this increase, and
considerable
effort was focussed on keeping
in touch with everyone,
informing
people about news and developments,
as well as sharing
success stories and ideas for further developments
ofactivities.
Due to the disruption
caused
by the Government's
pandemic
guidelines,
and the total cessation of "in person" meetings,
classes and workshops
in
March 2020, Manchester
Taoist Centre has had to rapidly develop online
capability
to deliver it's services. This has meant developing
in-house
experts
in all aspects ofvideo-conferencing;
cameras, software, video-
editing,
and storage and access to online resources.
Unfortunately,
this disruption
has had a major effect on income in the
latter 4 months ofthe year. But also some reduction
in travel, and venue
hire expenditure.
initially,
online classes and courses were offered free ofcharge, as a
way
ofencouraging
people to participate
in this new way.
There was a major drop in participation,
however, as a result.
Manchester
Lishi Arts does not charge a membership
fee. We do not
want to exclude people from joining classes and benefiting
from its
activities,
lUlanchester
Lishi Arts encourages
those people who can afford
to make donations
depending
on the value they place on the work of
the
charity.
In this way, we raised funds through
the classes, workshops
and
courses run by Manchester
Lishi Arts. The charity is grateful for the
support of all its donors, and will also seek alternative
funding
streams
from grant awarding
bodies. AII volunteers
give their time for free and
do
not gain financially
from the work they do.
