## **TRUSTEES’ ANNUAL REPORT and FINANCIALS for 2024/2025** 

1. This report relates to the period: 24th May 2024 to 22nd May 2025. 

2. Our Monthly meetings with a Speaker continue to be held at The Emsworth Baptist Church on the 4th Thursday of the Month at 2pm. 

3. Membership numbers have increased this year to 534 at the end of March, and our Welcome coffee mornings continued to be a success. 

4. There are currently 54 groups run by our members, two more than last year. Sadly 2 groups have closed (Roman History and Music Appreciation), however there are 6 new groups including: 2 new Watercolour groups, 2 new Beginners Bridge groups, a Real Ale group and the most recent, The Bus Explorers Group, open to all but certainly utilising anyone with a Bus Pass. For details of these new groups and all our groups please visit our website on the Group page. Plenty of support is available to anyone wishing to start a new interest group, just contact our Group Co-ordinator. 

5. Our Newsletter is digitally published and emailed on a monthly basis keeping members informed, entertained and up-to-date. It is also available on our website including back copies. Subject matter is always welcomed and anyone wishing to submit a paragraph or two should contact our Newsletter editor who would welcome your input. 

6. Our website: emsvalleyu3a.org continues to be updated with contact details, current information, group details and our calendar of events. There is also an on-line suggestion box on our welcome page should you have anything you wish to send in. 

7. Our communication tool is Beacon, and our Administrator offers training to anyone who requires it. 

8. Our 2024 Christmas Lunch was held at Chichester College and was deemed very successful with fabulous food and attentive helpful staff. This year the Christmas Lunch is already booked at the Chichester College again on Thursday 4th of December.

10. The Governing Document of Ems Valley u3a is The Constitution. Adopted originally on 16th March 2006. At our last AGM on 23.05.24 we voted in a model constitution from the Third Age Trust, available to view on our website. There have been no changes since.

11. The objectives of Ems Valley u3a are: 

      - ‘The advancement of education and, in particular, the education of older people and those who are retired from full time work by all means, including associated activities conducive to learning and personal development.’ 

12. On the advice of the Third Age Trust, all Committee Members and Co-opted Members become Trustees of Ems Valley u3a. Ems Valley u3a elect Honorary Officers and Committee members at the Annual General Meeting and these people are required to become Trustees of Ems Valley u3a so, essentially, the members elect the Trustees. 

13. The following individuals were appointed as Trustees of Ems Valley u3a at the AGM on the specified date: 23th May 2024 and held their positions at the time of the signing of this report.

15. The Trustees consider that the Ems Valley u3a continues to carry out, to the best of its ability, the requirements laid out in the original Constitution mentioned above.
