Friends from Home from Home UK Annual Report to 5 December 2023 Alms of Friends of Home from Home UK Friends of Home from Home UK was set up to provide financial support to Home from Home, a Registered Charity in South Africa. The aim of Home from Home South Africa is to provide homes, education and medical care for orphaned and abandoned children in South Africa. It is also assisting older children to make the transition into tertiary education or employment. There are currently over 200 children housed in 36 foster homes. Each home aims to house 6 children looked after by a trained house mother. The registered address of Friends of Home from Home (UK) is: Monks Retreat, Church Lane, Monkton Combe. Bath, BA2 7EX. Total Funds raised Over the period covered in this report the total amount raised was a pleasing £77,856. This comprised of £34,030 in donations and child sponsorship; £32,437 from fundraising related to sporting events, an £8,299 donation from the Gee Street Education Fund and £3,090 recovered from Grft Aid. This was a very Satisfying result and was significantly boosted by a team of cyclists who participated in the Cape Town Cycle tour and a good number of runners who completed the Royal Parks Half Marathon Key highlights include. l. A healthy level of recurring child sponsorship 2. The generous support of our regular Trust donors 3. A team of UK and Dutch based ryclists entering the Cape Town Cycle Tour after a break of a number of years. A special thanks to Inez Padiachy, Rob Farley and the team of supporters.

  1. Sponsorship monies raised at the Royal Parks. Tanya Townshend organized a group of runners who finished in very impressive times.
  2. Sponsorship monies raised byjo Taylor completing the Scarborough Ramble in Cape Town Funds of £70,000 were remitted back to South Africa. Expenses Expenses related to Just Giving totaled £216. Expenses of £21 were incurred for bank charges. Costs related to race entries etc. were £3,049. The trustees would like to thank PB Accountancy. 17 Duckmoor Road, Bristol for preparing the accounts for the Charities Commission, free of charge. Trustee change During the year Catherine de Maid stepped down as a trustee. The trustees were delighted to welcome Pippa Shaper as a new trustee. Pippa is one of the founders of Home from Home.
