Aims of Friends of Home from Home UK
Friends of Home from Home UK was set up to provide financial support
to Home from Home, a Registered Charity in South Africa.
The aim of Home from Home South Africa is to provide homes,
education and medical care for orphaned and abandoned children in
South Africa. It is also asslsting older children to make the transition into
tertiary education or employment. There are currently over 200 children
housed in 36 foster home5. Each home aims to house 6 children looked
after by a trained house mother.
The registered address of Friends of Home from Home (UK) is:
Monks Retreat, Church Lane, Monkton Combe, Bath, BA2 7EX.
Susannah Padiachy, Gillian Jordan and Jo Chavasse stepped down as
trustees during the year. Thanks was recorded for their service and help
over the years.
Total Funds raised
Overthe period covered in this report the total amount raised was
£67,762. This comprised of £56,306 in donations and child sponsorship.
£4,952 from fundraising and £6,504 related to Sporting events.
This was a very satisfying result given the ongoing Covid disruptions,
which required more innovative fund raising campaigns.
Key highlights include.
l. A healthy level of recurring child sponsorship
2. The generous support of our regular Trust donors
3. A successful Christmas Hamper project conceived and run by
Katherine Tait
4. Online Pilates sessions hosted very kindly by Kay Skinner

5. Sponsorship monies raised at the Royal Parks, most notably by the
Parson5 family
6. Herbert Kretzmer, a long term supporter of Home from Home,
sadly passed away during 2020. We benefited from donations
from his memorial during 2020 and 2021.
Funds of £40,000 were remitted back to South Africa.
Expenses
Expenses related to Just Giving totaled £216. Expenses of £21 were
incurred for bank charges.
The trustees would like to thank PB Accountancy, 17 Duckmoor Road.
Bristol for preparing the accounts forthe Charities Commission, free of
charge.

I report to the trustees on my examination of the accounts of the above charity (“the Trust”) for the year ended **05/12/2021** . 

- **Responsibilities and** As the charity trustees of the Trust, you are responsible for the preparation **basis of report** of the accounts in accordance with the requirements of the Charities Act 2011 (“the Act”). 

I report in respect of my examination of the Trust’s accounts carried out under section 145 of the 2011 Act and in carrying out my examination, I have followed the applicable Directions given by the Charity Commission under section 145(5)(b) of the Act. 

## **Independent examiner's statement** 

I have completed my examination.  I confirm that no material matters have come to my attention in connection with the examination which gives me cause to believe that in, any material respect: 

- accounting records were not kept in accordance with section 130 of the Act or 

- the accounts do not accord with the accounting records 

I have no concerns and have come across no other matters in connection with the examination to which attention should be drawn in order to enable a proper understanding of the accounts to be reached.
