Page | 2 ## Trustees Annual Report Trustees Annual Report for the year to 31 March 2024 ## Administrative details The name of the charity is: The registration number of the charity is: Friends of Furze Down 1117292 The address of the charity is: Furze Down School Verney Road Winslow Bucks MK18 3BL ## The following served as trustees during the year: Mr Hugh Ellerton Chair Mr Colin Bishopp Trustee Mrs Diana Campbell Trustee Mrs Sheree Howard Trustee ## Structure, governance and management The charity is a trust formed under a trust deed dated 22" November 2006. New Trustees are appointed by existing trustees. The trustees take in to account the need for particular skills and experience when selecting new trustees. ## Finances The financial position of the fund is deemed to be satisfactory. The trustees have not drawn up a formal policy concerning reserves as it is not thought to be necessary in view of the manner of the operation if the fund. ## Public benefit The trustees have complied with their duty to have due regard to the guidance on public benefit published by the Charity Commission in exercising their power or duties. ## Objectives and activities To advance the education of pupils of the school by providing or assisting in the provision of educational, recreational and other such charitable facilities in augmentation of facilities financed by the local authority or the DfE. Page | 3 ## Introduction As Trustees of the Friends of Furze Down School, we are pleased to present our annual report for the year 2023-2024. This report provides an overview of the activities and achievements of the Friends of Furze Down School during the past year. ## Objectives The Friends of Furze Down School is a charitable organisation that aims to support and advance the education and well-being of children at Furze Down School. Our objectives are: - e To provide financial support to the school to enhance the educational experience of its pupils - e Toenhance cultural capital and social and emotional well-being of pupils at Furze Down School - e Providing funding for facilities that are not financed by the DfE and or Buckinghamshire Council - e To foster a sense of community and partnership between the school, parents and the wider community. ## Activities and Achievements During the past year, we have been involved in a variety of activities and initiatives to support the school and its pupils. Some of our key achievements include: - e Organising fundraising events, such as our annual Christmas fair- income generated outlined in accounts. - e Exceptional grants/donations, due to continued links with local community initiatives e Charitable bids - e Legacy donations - e Providing financial support to the school to purchase resources and equipment, to support the pond project/goats derived from successful bids, - e Supporting school events and activities - e Collaborating with other local organisations and businesses for sponsorship of events and making future links to provide opportunities for pupils to learn and develop new skills - e Co-held events with the Winslow Lions 10K Run and North Bucks Bike Ride e Regular fundraising platforms such as Buckinghamshire Lottery - e Community Fund Grants such as the Co Op Community Fund - e Skill and time and expert services — based activities, for example landscaping/ and amphitheatre designs. By leveraging skill — based fundraising, we have created a unique and engaging way to raise funds for the school, whilst also showcasing the talents and passions of our supporters. Page | 4 ## Financial Report For the year ending 31.03.24 we have received a total of £31,753 in donations and fundraising income. We have also incurred expenses of £21,848 on our charity objectives Our financial statement is attached (see page 7). ## Impact By carefully planning and executing a co-held event like a 10K Run and Bike Ride we are able to create a unique and exciting experience that attracts a broader community audience and generates more revenue for the school. The impact of our projects is detailed further within our Strategic Fundraising Plan 2024- 2027 www.fds.org.uk ## Recommendations As Trustees of the Friends of Furze Down School, we recommend that the following actions be taken: - e Continue to support the school's educational programs and initiatives through financial donations - e Continue to support the school's educational programs and initiatives through applications to charitable trusts. - e Continue to host and develop new fundraising events and activities to increase our income and impact - e Engage with parents and carers through regular meetings and updates to ensure that they are informed about our activities and can get involved - e Continue to collaborate with other local organisations and businesses to provide opportunities for pupils to learn and develop new skills ## Conclusion In conclusion, we are pleased to report that the Friends of Furze Down School has made significant progress during the past year. We are grateful for the support of our donors, fundraisers, and volunteers, without whom we would not be able to achieve our objectives.
