In 2024125 IFH continued to develop
activities targeting key audiences (scientistsl
opinion formers, health professionals. civil
society, professional and consumer media).
This included producing scientific and
communication materials, and developing
visibility and influence by communicating IFH
policies and materials through the IFH
website. conference presentations, one-to-
one discussions and other channels.

1.1 To support advocacy work, IFH produced a
policy proposal 'Developing public hygiene
resilience to reduce community-based
infections and prepare for future epidemics

arguing the case for adoption of IFH Targeted
hygiene as the approach for developing hygiene
strategy
1.2. IFH has been iising thp. pnlir.y prnpn%s)1
to advocate for investment in HEDL hygiene
promotion. This has involved 1-1 interactions
with identified opinion fonners, policy makers
etc. in UK and internationally. IFH has also
been forging partnershipg with others
working in this space to strengthen the case,
to mutual advantage. This includes working
with the British Cleaning Council and key
opinion formers in health care settings.
2. Gaining acceptance that HEDL
hygiene development requlres a
rfsk management approach.
2.1 Arguing the scientific case for MRA and
QMRA as a means to estimate the clinical
impact of a Targeted hygiene Imoments
approach on infection rates. This work is
being led by the IFH-Pan-American Targeted
Hygiene Centre who have created a
layperson guide to the benefits and uses of
QMRA and leveraging QMRA for evaluating
Targeted Hygiene.

3. Using targeted hygiene to develop
public hygiene understsnding and
resilience
3.1 Clinical experts and health agencies are
reluctant to adopt this approach without
quantitative data on health impact. In
2024 IFH with "The UK Behavioural
Insights Team" developed a publlc
inteNention study to determine whether
Targeted Hygiene influences
understanding and intention to act in an
effective way to reduce risks of infection.
Participants that viewecj an animated,
storytelling intervention video on the key
moments approach showed a 6 %
increase in hygiene comprehension and
principles of targeted hygiene.
Although the trial, in its current form,
failed to increase intention to practi
Targeted Hygiene in real life scenarios,
it showed that, by further development,
it should be possible to enhance
comprehension to enable people to tum
pre-learned habits into targeted
behaviour. A report of the rial is now
published on the IFH website

I report to the trustees on my examination of the accounts of the above
charity ("the Trust") for the year ended 28 February 2025.
Responsibilities and
basis of report
As the charity's trustees, you are responsible for the preparation of the
accounts in accordance with the requirements of the Charities Act 2011
("the Act")-
I report in respect of my examination of the Trust's accounts carried out
under section 145 of the 2011 Act and in carying out my examination, I
have followed all the applicable Directions given by the Charity Commission
under section 145(5)(b) of the Act.
Independent I have completed my examination. I confimi that no material matters have
examiner's statement come to my attention in connection with the examination (other than that
disclosed below ') which gives me cause to believe that in, any material
respect..
the accounting records were not kept in accordance with section 130
of the Charities Act: or
the accounts did not accord with the aGcounting records. or
the accounts did not comply with the applicable requirements
concerning the form and content of accounts set out in the Charities
(Accounts and Reports) Regulations 2008 other than any requirement
that the accounts give a 'true and fair, view which is not a matter
considered as part of an independent examination.
