Para 1.20 | promoting effective hygiene and hygiene behaviour change based on targeted hygiene In 2021/22, IFH continued its lobbying/working in partnership with hygiene stakeholders to get action in line with calls made in our 2021consensus white paper setting out why hygiene is important and what needs to be done - firstly to overcome barriers to change - secondly to promote hygiene behaviour change through targeted hygiene. To support this work IFH has produced a new web area entitled “developing and promoting hygiene to meet C21st needs as a hub which contains key materials produced by IFH to explain the principles of Targeted Hygiene. All of these materials have been extensively promoted though, the IFH website, IFH newsletters, IFH twitter feed and linkedin. It has also been promoted through 9 international conference presentations. IFH is currently actioning a project with Royal Society for Public Health to gain the attention of government agencies, opinion formers/policy makers etc to build understanding of the need for a fundamental review of hygiene promotion strategies to ensure that they meet C2st needs, and reflect learnings from COVID-19. 2. Response to the COVID-19 pandemic IFH continued to update our information on the prevention of COVID-19 through public hygiene behaviour. The IFH COVID 19web area (20,000 views to date) containing fact advice sheets (5600 views) and a blog giving advice on how to prevent the spread of the coronavirus continued to be promoted through our normal channels (twitter feed, linkedin, newssheets etc). Ongoing, IFH Board members contributed to TV and radio news feeds, andprint articlesgiving public |
advice on hygiene issues.
3. Putting targeted Hygiene into practice IFH has developed and published a practical guide to communicating the Targeted Hygiene/ moments approach, for use by the public, media, health professionals etc. We are also consulting with experts in behaviour change and exploring whether and how we might test this approach in behaviour change models.

Financial Review
----- Start of picture text -----
Review of the charity’s Para 1.21 2021/22 was again an atypical year. Late in
financial position at the end the year we initiated 2 new projects which
of the period will be completed and invoiced in 2022/23
(costs £25,000). We were again unable to
travel to meetings, all of which were carried
out online. In addition we gained a new
sponsor in Dec 2021 who paid us a total of
£20,000 which included £15,000 towards
2022/23 funding. This means that we still
appear to have an abnormally high reserve.
In 2022/23 we will have the additional one
off cost of updating our website (£15,000).
Statement explaining the Para 1.22 It is the policy of the charity that unrestricted
policy for holding reserves funds which have not been designated for a
stating why they are held specific use should be maintained at a level
equivalent to between three and six month’s
expenditure. The trustees consider that
reserves at this level will ensure that, in the
event of a significant drop in funding, they
will be able to continue the charity’s current
activities while consideration is given to
ways which additional funds may be raised.
Amount of reserves held Para 1.22 Total funds held at 28 February 2022 were
£96,042. Of these funds, £8,729 were
restricted for specific purposes, and £87,313
were unrestricted free reserves.

Explanation of any Para 1.23 The trustees have reviewed likely future
uncertainties about the developments and remain of the opinion that
charity continuing as a going there is no reason to believe that the charity
concern will have to cease operating as a result of
inadequate financial resources, or any other
foreseeable event, within a period of at least
12 months from completion of accounts.

| I report to the trustees on my examination of the accounts of the above charity (“the Trust”) for the year ended 28 February 2022. As the charity's trustees, you are responsible for the preparation of the accounts in accordance with the requirements of the Charities Act 2011 (“the Act”). I report in respect of my examination of the Trust’s accounts carried out under section 145 of the 2011 Act and in carrying out my examination, I have followed all the applicable Directions given by the Charity Commission under section 145(5)(b) of the Act. I have completed my examination. I confirm that no material matters have come to my attention in connection with the examination (other than that disclosed below *) which gives me cause to believe that in, any material respect: |
-
the accounting records were not kept in accordance with section 130 of the Charities Act; or
-
the accounts did not accord with the accounting records; or
-
the accounts did not comply with the applicable requirements concerning the form and content of accounts set out in the Charities (Accounts and Reports) Regulations 2008 other than any requirement that the accounts give a ‘true and fair’ view which is not a matter considered as part of an independent examination.
I have no concerns and have come across no other matters in connection with the examination to which attention should be drawn in this report in order to enable a proper understanding of the accounts to be reached.
