professional appfoèch to running the charity. installing nèw p)licies and proceLfur*s and installin9 a corrmèrcè
operating system. The result of this has itryroved communication throughout the charity including at board level
down to opeTatsons staff. The structure of thè ¢haTity h¥5 changeij lo simplfy the op8rab.ng rnodel with ¢Jirect lines
of accountatslity into a sole director.
In tems of growth, the focus remèins to grow organically wim risk assessed growth. Our Buikjing Futures
programme expanded to Woking in Sepiembei 2022. Thrs eontinues to grow ￿th new years added and
continues lo deliver the rnuch need learning in the communtbes. The 'A Reason To Get Up. progtsmme has
undergone change to make the programme focussed on ctsntinuin9 on from Building FubJres success to develop
the service users lrfe skills through into va￿tiOnal devebpment

inspire to be better, push us to work harder. and drive us to bring our best lo w(M1¢ every day. We treat all
young people with respect. integrity and compassion. 8 professional yet empathic persoTrcentered 8pproach
that encourages posiliwty and ambthon. We do this by being individual focusèd in our approach, and by provrding
a friendly and nurturing environment. We are commrtte(5 to beawng a ￿gacY of ex(*llence by helping young

Achievèments and Pèrfomance
Each year this report is a ch8nce to reflect on the many 8chrevements that our youru petsple and the company
have achieved in that time. We are grateful to all those who have been a part of this organisation and we hope
you will continue lo join us in meeting the ongoing challenges of nurturing and enabling independence in young
people wrth a leaming disabilty in Surrey and surrounrling districts. Feedback from young people and families on
halow slaff continues trj be good, remarking on the positive relationships forrrtd. the pro9￿SS made towards
their goals and the tsfety and happness of youro people èetess￿9 haEow seNces.
The Trustees (Company Directors) are pleased to report progress in all areas ￿ent[fied in 2022-2023 and it is a
e¥¥dit to our teams that we were able to delNer services for more young pewe than in previous yeats, have
invested further in the qualty of ¢Jur services, have made real and sustainable change to further 5e(xJre the
chanty's prK>ribes and future. and end the year in a heatthy finanual position.

Our Building Futures, A Reason To Up {ARTGUI and Socrdl Activities se￿1￿*S have all delNered an
increased 8mounl of service this year- an¢J continue to grow to meei the demand for the semces.
ARTGU looks ttr develtsp the skills learnl in Buikling FubJres and be￿rne the gateway to further indepèndence
and gaining employment by attr8Cting the businesses in the local comrnunty to embr¥¢e employing adults with
learning disabilities and autism through training the businesses and coaching the adults with the skn.lls to obtain
èmployment. A Working plan has been implemented to in￿aSe the seM¢es offering lo enable an enhanced
programme of actNit￿$ th* create a focus on lurlher independe￿e and preparing them to gain meaningfvl
employment.
Building Futures expanded to an extra year group in Woking. This tontinues to go Irom strength to strength with
the support of Surrey County Courril and SEND tearnts. Plans a￿ to indude a transition year prior to starting the
full Building Futures curriculum.
Social A¢ttvities is continuing to delwer a greater number and variety ol sèssions than ever before. encouraging
more variation in its sessions and induding the skilL8 to twel independentty and futther afitrld.
In Supported Living we are looking to expand the number of supported lknng housès by intro(lu¢irng a nèw
transitson house. Demand for SUPPDrted liwng continues to grow an¢J is an a￿a we can organically grow the
charity. The outreach seNice has ￿InVented itseff lo become a more resums bosed Fwramme that gives rolling
10 week PTegr8mmes trj allow the adult to achieve set goals.
2. Continue the implementation of our Exceptional Person4entred Care (EPC) strategy, a root and
branch approach to reposition our teams to deliver this.

EPC aims for our service users.
Thè increased challenges In ￿crUitment have prompted a ￿StrUctUre of Ihe human resources team. A full-time
training position, People & Development Coordinator has t•een introduced to compliment Ihe full time
Recruilment Coordinator. These roles are supported by a part time Vo￿nIeeT Ce<)rdinator to focus on this sector.
The Head of Care fole has been supported by a r*w Independent Supporl Programme Coordinator to focus on
this pro9ramme. Their role w￿11 be to manage. coordinate and grow the support prograiTltne.
The implementation of tr￿S r&stru¢￿Ie has been ¢reated without iruea&ng headcount bul by rèdeploying current
pèrsonnel into new roles.
Our goveinance has increased 3CtOSS the chartty - with managers visiting seryi¢es mre. and board mèmbers
reviewng quality regvlqdy through rKesentations at the Q&1 ffteetin95 to discuss and review each seNices
progress.
Each area of the charity is submitted to a qu8rter5y review %tsrylh the trustees taking xlive particlpation in th¢

candidales. New staff should feel part of one tnduswe and dynamic team whose main goal is to enhance the
lives of young people with leamirvJ dlsabilib"￿.
Each role within the charity is reviewed quarterfy and saL8r*s btnchmarked against notjust the industry stsndard
but new threats from other sectors such as relail and hospitality. A new Succ￿%￿)n pkn for Èach employee will
be rolled out to recognise and promoie intemal progression.
Re¢ruitrnent has faced a challenging time sTrnce COVID-19. many workers in this secior (like many others) have
lefl to seek Èmploymenl away from the sector. This ha5 resulted in a significant increase in rKtrn suitabl
applieants, thus we have reviewe(5 and adapted our recruitment process to increase slaff retention from the start
of their èmptoymènL
Employe¢ engagement remains a main priortty to ensure that there is a conb.nued voice and prèsence of thè Staff
to the leadership team and Ihe bo8rd_ CommunicatiM from all meetings is held as open and transp8rent for all
employees to see.
The Leadership Team attend weekty meetings to discuss issuès and a￿st in re50fving ch8llen9es together as a
team, these meetings are noted and (>scaded back to their teams to ensure everyone in the ory8ni5ation is
awarè ol the challengès faced. The leadership meètings 8Tr complimented by quartedy Town Hall meety'ngs to
enable all stsff Members to pose questions to ￿ lea(lersfwp team.

accepted renèwals basttd on prev￿)US dealings with the company.
AJI O￿VatIng departmènts assist in setting their own buclgels ènd a￿ reviewed quarterty ￿th the direclor and
stress tesiwj before 8¢¢epting them. This gives the departrnental manager grealer oVers￿ht of their budgets and
the knowledg& of how lo financialty njn their <lepartments.
Quarterly budget reports continue to take pLxe espèt4alty given the academic year stsrt for Building Futures is In
September.
A new operating system that can encornpass sÈv8ral of our current systems will need to be investigated for
viability as we currently use 4 s¢parate systems for payroll. rotss. holidays arKI absence management.

We do not engage any other exlemal agencies to fundraise ￿ eroage with doTh)rs on our behalf. L￿¢T the past
year we rèeeived no complaints abwt our fundraisiNJ. We define a complaint as ari expiession of dissatisfaction
from a supporter or funder. No compL8int is ever disregarded, and all complaints a￿ passed on to colleagves
and managers and we seek a￿y$ to leam from these and to use this leaming to inform futuie fundraising
practice.
As a charity that supports some of wr community's most vulnerable young people, we have slrict guidelines with
rega¥L1 tr) s91icrting fvnds from anyone who may be classed as vulrwable (through reduced mental capacity,
poverty or ill hÈalthl. Amhough many of Dur young peop￿ a￿ keen to support our fundraising through sponsorèd
events. attendlng our carol serwicÈ or helping on the Stsnd at a community fundraising event. we nevèr ask our
young people to make a donab.on to the chanty either face to faTr or through a fvndraising appeal. All staff and
c￿traCtorS are trained and supervised to ensure ihal when we #re aware of 8 person's vulnerability, It is not
appropiiate to solicit fund5 from them. Where a frail or eklerly individual expresses inlere5t in leaving a gift in
their will. we always ￿n￿rage them lo speak to their family fi￿t to ensur8 Ihat we do nol In1￿￿nce the

The financial accounts for the year to 31 March 2023 show a nèt Surp￿ of £25.827 as Sr￿￿n on the Stat$ment
of Financial Activrties on page 11.
The Cash Flow Ststemenl on page 14 Sho￿ an infftase in cash and cash equNalents of £48,518 during the
year.
Income overall increased by 24% over the year. This was a recovery from the weak situation during the
Pandemic. Our annual bike ride was back and r*w events like halow's Got Talents and Damon H¢15 Golf
Challenge were held., these three events brought around £174.CM)D MO￿ income this year.
