AT THE 2020 AGM THE INCUMBANT COMMITTEE STEPPED DOWN IN FULL IN ANTICIPATION OF A FULL NOMINATION AND SELECTION PROCESS BY THE MEMBERSHIP OF THE WARRINGTON ISLAMIC ASSOCIATION BODY.

DUE TO THE COVID 19 PANDEMIC ELECTIONS HAVE YET TO BE HELD. THE GOVERNANCE OF THE CHAIRTY IN THE MEANTIME IS BEING UNDERTAKEN BY THE HOLDING TRUSTEES ON A TEMPORARY BASIS. IT IS THE HOLDING TRUSTEES INTENTION TO HOLD ELECTIONS AS SOON AS IT IS PRACTICAL.

The Executive Committee consists of not less than 6 and not more than 10 voting Executive Committee Members being:

Objectives and activities

To advance education and to provide facilities in the interests of social welfare for recreation and leisure time occupation with the object of improving conditions of life persons in the Warrington area, in particular but not exclusively persons of the Islamic faith and their families.

Promote equality and diversity by working towards elimination of racial discrimination and to promote equality of opportunity and good relations between persons of different racial groups in the Warrington area, in particular but not exclusively persons of the Islamic faith and their families.

Additional details of objectives and activities (Optional information )

IN LINE WITH GOVERNMENT GUIDELINES THE MOSQUE AND HALL WERE CLOSED IN MARCH 2020.

It is our intention to resume our full scope of activities and events as soon as it is deemed safe to do so.

Organise fundraising events to support community and local charities.
Coordinate and carry out appeals and activities in support of people impacted by natural disasters such as famine, floods and earthquakes.
Organise fundraising campaigns for the continual upgrade/maintenance of the Islamic Centre and Community Centre as and when required
Implement an education curriculum covering religious and cultural needs.
Initiated monthly overnight workshops aimed towards adolescent members of the community where various social issues affecting them directly or indirectly are discussed. Topics vary from Drugs and Alcohol to the nurturing of virtuous character traits. These sessions are designed to promote both the intellectual and spiritual development of participants through thought-provoking workshops as well as studying issues from an ethical and moral standpoint
Weekly adult classes aimed at enhancing moral and ethical values. The class provides an opportunity for those from an Islamic faith and those from a non-Islamic faith to gain greater knowledge of the principles and values of the Islamic tradition through study of the words of the Holy Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him.
Monthly ladies Islamic poetry recital and singing, which provides an opportunity to appreciate and experience Islamic art, creativity and devotion.
Monthly gathering open to both men and women where the focus is to praise and laud the Holy Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him through the singing of Islamic poetry

Achievements and performance

Summary of the main achievements of the charity during the year April 2020 to March 2021

The Mosque and the sports hall were open for normal activities until March 2020 when in accordance with government guidelines both were closed due to the Covid 19 pandemic.

The mosque and the adjacent community hall were closed in March 2020, and whilst the community hall remained closed until later 2021 the mosque was opened for limited congregations in July 2020 in line with the government guidelines for places of worship.

Due to the ongoing pandemic the mosque has scaled back its activities and operations during this period and the main focus has been to provide daily prayer and Friday prayer congregation during this period.

Current updates

Our education academy which provides Islamic education for children from the ages of 5 to 16 recommenced at the start of September 2021. Classes are held 7 days a week with over 150 children attending regularly.

The community hall remained closed for majority of the period under review until in January 2021 when it was opened to support the NHS programmes on vaccinations against Covid 19. Our community centre has been of the main hubs in warringtons efforts to vaccinate vast majority of the local population. As at the end of 2021 over 40000 doses of the vaccination have been carried out on the site.

No formal policy but the WIA committee aims to keep a positive cash balance to meet unforeseen circumstances on the day to day operations. WIA has a policy that all significant capital projects are funded through separate fundraising campaigns, events and donations.

Respective The charity's trustees are responsible for the preparation of the accounts. responsibilities of The charity’s trustees consider that an audit is not required for this year trustees and examiner under section 43(2) of the Charities Act 1993 (the 1993 Act) and that an independent examination is needed. It is my responsibility to:

examine the accounts under section 43 of the 1993 Act,
to follow the procedures laid down in the general Directions given by the Charity Commission (under section 43(7)(b) of the 1993 Act, and
to state whether particular matters have come to my attention.

Basis of independent My examination was carried out in accordance with general Directions given examiner’s statement by the Charity Commission. An examination includes a review of the accounting records kept by the charity and a comparison of the accounts presented with those records. It also includes consideration of any unusual items or disclosures in the accounts, and seeking explanations from the trustees concerning any such matters. The procedures undertaken do not provide all the evidence that would be required in an audit, and consequently no opinion is given as to whether the accounts present a ‘true and fair’ view and the report is limited to those matters set out in the statement below.
