ACTIVITIES, DEVELOPMENTS AND ACHIEVEMENTS DURING THE YEAR
The IRMF reflects ethnically diverse communities of LB Islington and operates as both 8 2nd
tierlnetwork body and direct provider of servI￿s- as a user-led charity. Our engagements
and campaigning work for the year 2023124 continued to influence and inform our member
organisations to be resilient, Gonfident and sustainable.
Local RCMOS and local communities have been affected for long as the result of austerity
due to the economic slowdown followed by Brexit and covid-19 pandemic, and the cost-of-
living. All these challenges have impacted the BAMER - refugee communities, in widening
the service gaps, inequalities, marginalisation and discrimination. We delivered our core
commitments which enabling local refugee and migrant organisations (RMCOS) to be
represented, their voices are heard, supported with basic essential capacity building needs,
better informed and endeavours to connect Ihem with mainstreaml statutory bodies. Our
core services include..
Infomiation-sharing: as well as resources with the 53 forum member organisations, and
leam from other organisations, success stories and challenges.
Representation & advocacy: through unified voices of refugees & migrants, organisations
to influence policies that affect local residents in their daily lives. We have been contribuling
to various consultations, research on local issues, and deliver front-line work.
Capacity building: training and workshops lailored to local refugees and migrants helping
them to become high-performing organisations and provide sustainable services. Support
typically includes assistance with fundraising, monitoring and evaluation, legal Complian￿ -
such as gov8mance.
Networking & collaboration: work between local organisations, peer fowms, stakeholders,
mainstream organisations, and the public sector. We bring together all these especially
forum member organisations on key issues to help them lo work collaboratively, raise
awareness and improve dialogue.
AGM: The IRMF held ils AGM successfully in May 2023 at Islington Town Hall - Committee
Room 1, and was attended by representatives who are managers and directors of local
RCMOS. and have extensive knowledge and experiences.
Refugee Week: In June 2023, we celebrated Refugee Week. one of Ihe IRMF suc￿Ssful
events where IDcal communities. councillors, Mayor and leader of the council also took part.
In July 2023, we also organised community festival at Assembly Hall, in partnership
including with Islington Faith Forum, Voluntary Action Islington. etc.
Between April and September 2023. the IRMF carried out major reviews to all our policies,
Business Plan and Fundraising Strategy. and our website has been also upgraded. We also
organised need analysis surveys to local groups twice which was in September 2023. and
March 2024.
The dedication and contributions made by the trustees, coordinator, and volunteers have
been significantly important to the development of Ihe organisation.
Above all, we would like also to thank our funders in particular the LB of Islington as a funder
and parlner, City Bridge Foundation, without their support, our services would have not been
